Bloodbowl 40k style

Post by Darkson »

I'm trying to make some self-consistent 40k Bloodbowl teams.

Draft of 2 teams:-

Code: Select all

Marine BB team

0 – 10 Marines 6/4/3/9 GS 110,000
0 – 8 Scouts 7/3/3/8 GA 90,000
0 – 2 Terminators 5/4/2/10 Mighty Blow GS 110,000
Re-rolls 50k
Apoth Yes

Tyranid BB team

0 – 12 Termagants 6/2/3/7 Dodge, Stunty, Hive Mind* G 40,000
0 – 4 Hormagaunts 8/3/3/7 Leap, Sprint, Hive Mind* GA 80,000
0 – 2 Genestealers 6/3/3/8 Razor Sharp Claws GS 70,000
0 – 4 Warriors 5/4/2/8 Node* GS 80,000
0 – 1 Tyrant 5/5/3/9 Mighty Blow, Node* GS 130,000
OR
0 – 1 Carnifex 4/6/1/9 BIG GUY, Mighty Blow GS 130,000
             Bonehead, Nonball Handler,
              Razor Sharp Claws

Re-rolls 50k
Apoth Yes (Warriors, Tyrant and Carnifex only)

Special: *Hive Mind – If there are no players on the field with the Node racial characteristic, then players with the Hive Mind racial Characteristic suffer from being Really Stupid.
Skills: On a double, any Tyranid player may choose Razor Sharp Claws or Extra Arms, not both. If a Carnifex chooses Extra Arms, they lose their Razor Sharp Claws and Nonball Handler Trait.

I want to make rosters for all the 40k races, different planetary weather tables, along with SW and maybe race-specific psykers.
They are not designed to be used alongside fantasy BB teams, so please don't just post stuff like "they're over-powered compared to orcs or elfs".

Any comments?

Wasn't that keen on Spacehulk, tbh.

And will someone explain to me way it's "silly"?

well space marines are going to have way better stats than you gave them

all the 40k stuff were designed for a different game system so transferring them over is completly ludicrous

What's that got to do with 40k

Still, if you think it's a good idea, I'll give up now

I think it's silly, but a fun variation. Where's the harm in trying something different for fun?

In the midst of fevered ramblings (ok, a slow day at work... same thing), I threw this out a week or so ago, with a similar intent.

I want my Howling Banshee Catchers, Dark Reaper Throwers and Warp Spider Blitzers. Big Guy Avatar (with Wild Animal, naturally) might be nice, too.

Just use the models from 40k, cut off the weapons and then use an existing set of team rules. Human for Marines, etc. No need to rewrite everything.

Personally I'd like to see some 40K Blood Bowl. But I think instead of just some Marine and Ork teams I'd like to see 40K styles rules.

Fun stuff like 'low grav games', ork nobz with cannon arms for throwing, Inquisition referees, this could be the venue ror deamon teams, bolters as secret weapons...c'mon it would be fun!

Just for Toby, I hashed out some quick starcraft stuff for you.

Code: Select all

Terra:
0-4 Ghosts 7 3 4 7 G,A Stealth, Catch
0-12 Marines 6 3 3 8 G Stimpack
0-4 Firebats 6 4 3 8 G,S Stimpack, Mighty Blow, Multiple Block
0-2 Medics 6 3 3 8 G,P Cure, Surehands

Big Guy:
0-1 Goliath 6 5 3 9 G,S Mightyblow,Breakdown, Big Guy, Passblock
Apoth: Yes
Rerolls:

Protoss:
0-4 H Templar 6 3 3 7 GAP Pass
0-2 D Templar 7 3 3 7 G,A Stealth
0-12 Zealots 6 3 3 9 G,S
0-2 Archons 4 4 2 10 G,S Block, Mightyblow, Weakflesh

Big Guy:
0-1 D Archon 7 2 4 10 G,A Hypnotic Gaze, Big Guy, Dodge, Surehands, Weakflesh
Apoth: Yes
Rerolls:

Zerg:
0-12 Zerglings 8 2 3 6 A Dodge, Stunty, Regenerate
0-6 Hydras 7 3 3 8 G Regenerate
0-4 Lurkers 4 3 3 8 G,S Guard, Regenerate
0-2 Defiler 4 3 3 7 G Dark Swarm, Regenerate
Apoth: NO
Rerolls:

Big Guy:
0-1 Ultralisk 5 6 1 9 G,S Razor Sharp Fangs, Claws, Big Guy, Regeneration, Wild Animal

*On a double Ultralisks and Zerglings can get spikes.

New Skills:

CURE - A player with cure can cancel the effects of STIMPACK, this counts as an action. (A player may not Blitz and cure on the same turn)
Stimpack - Allows player to have both Sprint and Surefeet, at the cost of one AG or STR, for that turn only. Mark the loss as temporary on the roster. AG or STR can be replaced if cured by a player with CURE. May not be used if it will lower Attributes below 1. Player may take an action after using this skill (such as Blitz or pass.)

Stealth - When used Roll 1d6
With a result of: 1 - Detected, nothing happens
2-5 - Cloaked, but seen, +1 to all dodge rolls. (player has successfully cloaked, but opponents have noticed the "shimmer")
6 - Completely cloaked treats 1d3 dodges as successful. (declare use before dodge roll, if a dodge roll is made then the result stands)

Weakflesh - +1 on injury rolls.

Dark Swarm - Can be cast within Quick Pass range of player. Effected areas is the size of the scatter template, and lasts through the opponents turn. (Goes away at the start of your next turn.) All players in the effected area get -1 to Catch rolls, +1 to dodge rolls, and -2 to pass rolls. Counts as a full action, players casting Dark Swarm may not move, or block.

Breakdown - Same as bonehead.
I will even let you hash out the costs for it.

Note: the Protoss "Big guy" is not so much a Big guy, as a ball handler. To make up for thier lack of true ball handlers.

Second Note: To regular BB players there may be a lot of Positions, but there are only suppose to be 3 races in StarcraftBowl.

Sorry, for hijacking your thread, Darkson, I know you would never do something like that.
