A reminder that discussions about how the team and captain are selected are ongoing. Most of those discussions are happening in this forum subsection. Votes are likely to follow with all English forum members eligible to vote.
We also have a new tactics subforum for hardcore BB strategists. Find that section here on the forum.

Re: Team England Update Thread (Eurobowl and EurOpen)
Hi again all
During and after this year's captaincy election there have been various discussions about possible changes to how the Team England captain selects the team, and about how the captain is chosen. This process of widespread discussion and review is essential to ensure Team England continues to represent the English community.
We have agreed to hold three votes on three separate topics linked below to the Team England site.
Vote 1: Minimum Tournament Attendance Guidelines for Team England players.
Vote 2: Who can vote in the Team England Captaincy Election?
Vote 3: Who can stand as Team England Captain?
These votes are now open (commenced this evening at 19:00) and will run for a week. All English members of the forum (who are also NAF members) can currently vote.
See the forum for all the details.

A reminder about the above votes. Polls are open until Thursday night. There'll be a second phase of voting starting straight after that on at least one of the topics.

Re: Team England Update Thread (Eurobowl and EurOpen)
Hi. For personal reasons I've had to drop out of the captaincy and team for Portugal. Sorry for wasting everyone's time but I hope my brief input has been positive. A new captain will be in place soon; for sure there'll be some chat about that and the outcomes of the above votes in the next few days.

Hi Bren,
You will be a sad loss to England and the community as a whole at Eurobowl. I for one will miss your excellent company in Porto.
I think you should share the reasons you have had to drop out as a) they are real world and positive and b) they will scotch any unnecessary speculation.
In an uncanny parallel, I do not believe it has been announced outside the immediate Scottish attendees at UKTC but the Scottish Team captain has had to stand down for similar positive reasons.
Cheers, Graham

I assume there was a sting involving the Telegraph and a cash for spaces scandal.

Re: Team England Update Thread (Eurobowl and EurOpen)
I've taken out a superinjunction at great expense so the real reason will never be known! Unless you google it
Seriously it’s a right pain in the bum as October was completely clear until stuff was rearranged and shit happened. People keep reminding me it's a good reason to have to withdraw and that is certainly true. Can’t be helped.
Apols for all the fuss. I’m sure the new skipper will do a fine job!
