Welcome one and all to the Welsh National Championships 2026!

TheShepherd and Hobnail have stepped down from running so that they can participate themselves, and the mantle has been taken up by myself (Jayward) and Sabeel (thatasianguy)

The tournament will take place on 17th & 18th January 2026 at Firestorm Games, Sloper Road, Cardiff CF11 8AB

9-30 Breakfast and registration
10-00 to 12-15 Game 1
12-15 to 13-00 Lunch
13-00 to 15-15 Game 2
15-30 to 17-45 Game 3
18-00 Day 1 Close

12-15 to 13-00 Lunch

Team building:
Coaches will have an amount of gold and skill points (SP) with which to build their teams. Gold can be spent on players, sideline staff, and inducements.

Inducements can be anything from the core rulebook only, excluding Wizards, Special Plays, and Mercenaries.
Each team will get a free Mascot, the Sheepy Reroll!

Star Players may only be taken by races in Tier 4 and have an additional cost of 3 SP.
Megastars and Skitter are banned.

Skill points grant a player one additional skill at the following costs:
Primary Skill: 1 SP
Secondary skill: 2 SP
There is no limit on repeats of any skill, and no player can receive more than one additional skill. (i.e. no stacking)

Tier 1: 1150k GP, 7 SP
Amazons, Dark Elves, Dwarves, Lizardmen, Orcs, Shambling Undead, Skaven, Underworld Denizens, Vampires, Wood Elves

Tier 2: 1160k GP, 8 SP
Chaos Dwarves, Elven Union, High Elves, Humans, Necromantic Horrors, Norse, Tomb Kings

Tier 3: 1170k GP, 9 SP
Black Orcs, Chaos Chosen, Chaos Renegades, Imperial Nobility, Khorne, Old World Alliance

Tier 4: 1170k GP, 9 SP, may take one Star Player at an additional cost of 3SP
Gnomes, Goblins, Halflings, Nurgle, Ogres, Snotlings

Rosters:
A Tourplay event will be set up closer to the time.
The deadline for rosters is midnight on 31st December 2025.

The rules:
The ruleset will be the latest GW rulebook and any relevant FAQ and Spike magazine. New teams and Stars will be valid if they are available in Tourplay before the roster submission deadline. I reserve the right to ban new stars if I don’t like the look of them!

The tournament will be Resurrection Style. All players are healed to full after each game, with no SPP, injuries, or temporary skills carrying over into the next round. Any players added during the match (such as by the Masters of Undeath rule) do not carry over to the next round.

Initial pairings will be random, followed by Swiss pairings for round 2-6.

Scoring:
Scoring is 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss, and -15 points for a concession.
Tiebreakers, in order, are head-to-head, Strength of Schedule, TD difference, CAS difference

Timing:
All rounds will last a maximum of 2 hours and 15 mins and will be called by the referees should that time expire. If either coach wishes to use a chess clock the other coach must agree.

£38 for NAF members, £38 for new NAF members and your price includes free NAF membership for you but make sure you tell us! Lunch on both days is included in this price.

What should you bring:
Your team which must be painted to 3 colours minimum, based and WYSIWYG, proxies are allowed but must be themed to match as a team and positions must be clearly identifiable.

A pitch, your dice, any relevant markers, tokens, and templates.

Winner, Runner Up, Third Place, Most Touchdowns, Most Casualties, Stunty Cup Winner, Top Welsh Player, Best Painted, Best Painted Sheepy Reroll/Shearleader
