Team England Captain 2025: Questions and AOB thread.
Hi all,
We expect the next few weeks to be relatively busy, so in an attempt to keep captaincy nomination and future Q&A discussion threads tidy, I've opened this thread as an overflow for questions and AOB discussion as we go through the process.
Thanks,
Dan

Hi Karl.
Thanks for this. When we open the Q&A thread I’ll add this to the list.

I’m putting this here as I didn’t know where else to. Please advise/move if there is a more appropriate thread.
I note from the TE Newsletter that the Charter is being updated and voted on by the community after the captaincy election. I therefore wondered whether the community will be asked what else it would like included? The reason I ask…
Kfoged was elected overwhelmingly last year on a mandate of community engagement. Further, he said in the TE Newsletter that “The only reason I don’t regard this year's EuroBowl campaign as a total failure is that I believe we have managed to engage the wider England community, encouraging them to talk about the team, cheer for us, and genuinely care about our performance—this was my main objective, aside from winning EuroBowl. I’m proud of that, and I hope this is merely the beginning of our journey rather than the final destination.”
A significant proportion of the Captain Q&A are about community engagement. Which from my own conversations and experiences, I believe, reflects the community’s wishes. On reflection this impacts consistency/continuity.
I therefore wondered whether in the Charter update, a section could be added on Community Engagement that sets out the requirement of the Committee (which includes the Captain) to set up forums/processes to hear from the community and create an inclusive feel to TE. There is already precedent in the Newsletter (which I love as the start) but none of this is reflected in the Charter.
By including in the Charter the community gets to vote on it and it creates an infrastructure and continuity to support the Captain/Team and also nurture a community.
Value any reflections. Thanks for considering.

Re: Team England Captain 2025: Questions and AOB thread.
Firstly, great to hear that you like the newsletter. On the Committee we also think the newsletter has been a good addition to TE and we plan to continue with it. There was a long period within the year when we didn’t publish anything and we intend to correct that going forward with 5 newsletters in a typical year, something like:
1. Reporting on EB/EO
2. Reporting on Captain Election
3. Reporting on Squad Selection
4. Mid year update
5. The final build up to EB/EO
We see the newsletter as more of a commitment from the current Committee than something that should be voted on and enshrined in the Charter.
My personal view on TE engagement with the community is that it should be mostly informal i.e. the Captain and the Teams and Committee members too being out and about at UK tournaments and happy to talk to people who are interested.
Tff doesn’t see nearly as much traffic as it once did and perhaps a TE Discord Channel would help with engagement, that is one of the topics that has been raised in the Captaincy Election Q&A.

I have to agree with dragonborn, and would go slightly further.
Would it not be a far better use of the committee to run the publicity side, giving continuity of approach.
I think on top of holding the elections, defining the rules, helping on selection and sending out the newsletter the committee should handle community outreach, run a discord server and ideally all support functions like dice/shirts etc.
Really let the captain and manager/9th person do the playing and team managing, and the committee could do the less flashy graft work.

Quick question- how will the voting work exactly ie on which platform? Apologies if already covered elsewhere, didn't see in the Charter
Cheers

We will be sharing a google form on which people will be able to vote.
You’ll need to be a member of the English community and be able to share your NAF details for it to count.
