Jump Up and Stab
A quick question for you.
Stab is a special action instead of Block. Does this mean you can use it with Jump Up on an Agility roll or does it need the Blitz?
If yes, would this also apply to Projectile Vomit and Hypnotic Gaze?

Re: Jump Up and Stab
Interesting question, firstly Hypnotic Gaze is a special action that does not take the place of a Block Action so doesn’t interact with that part of Jump Up
By my reading of the skills, Vomit and Stab are done instead of a Block Action, so I’d say you can’t use Jump Up with them

I don't have the new rules, but if they're worded the same as in BB2016 and before, yes you can.

Re: Jump Up and Stab
Asked and answered. Stab is a special action that is performed instead of a Block - ergo it's not a Block action. Jump Up's second ability is strictly limited to a Block action. No, you cant Jump Up and Stab.

Re: Jump Up and Stab
Reading the bits you've underlined, I would say you can... which is the opposite to what you're saying!
Stab is 'Instead of performing a Block action', Jump Up lets you 'Jump up and perform a Block action'.
My reading would be that you make the test to jump up and perform a Block action, and then can sub in the Stab action because they both say 'perform a Block action'.
If it works with Stab it should work with Projectile Vomit since they have the same wording. It's not relevant to Hypnotic Gaze because you can move before using the skill anyway so you were always able to stand up and Gaze

Re: Jump Up and Stab
Just after my Stab underline it goes on to say it's a Stab Special action. Ergo not a Block action.

Appears I'm in the minority with my reading.

Re: Jump Up and Stab
I guess it's unclear from what's written whether Stab is "a replacement of a block action with a different set of rules to follow", or if it's "a different action and choosing it prevents you from doing a block action". Both feel like reasonable interpretations from what I can see in front of me. Stab certainly does feel like a different way of doing a block, though, so I would err more on the side of it working with Jump Up. Obviously if someone can find an unambiguous ruling then that should be used.

If everyone emails bloodbowlfaq@gwplc.com they might recognise it as frequently asked and add it to the doc.

Re: Jump Up and Stab
It seems clear to me.
If you cannot do a block (seperate or part of a blitz), you cannot stab.
The stab is done instead of the block, or in other words, it replaces the block.
If there is no block, there's nothing to replace, so no stab.
If you jump up according to the rules to do block or blitz, you can stab.
Just my 2c.

New FAQ 25/5/22
You can use Stab when you Jump Up
Another entry in the FAQ relating to Stab; if you have Frenzy and get a push in the first block you can replace the serving block with Stab!

Re: Jump Up and Stab
(as stated already) May 2022 FAQ:
Q: If a player has both the Jump Up skill and the Stab trait, can they use the Jump Up Skill to allow them to make a Block action from Prone on a 2+ and then replace this Block action with a Stab Special Action?
A: Yes.
So I think Jump Up must then also work with Projectile Vomit and Chainsaw as they all have the same text:
"Instead of performing a Block action (on its own or as part of a Blitz action), this player may perform a ‘XXX’ Special action." (p84, p86)
