I think a possible solution to the ogre problem would be to give them the WILD ANIMAL racial trait (2+ to block, blitz, and foul and 4+ to do anything else) and remove the BONEHEAD racial trait.

This would still allow them to take the skills they need, but they would need to roll a 4+ to do anything that results in a score.

Here is my reasoning. Big guys on a normal team have non-ogre teammates that can yell instructions to them as they play. This tends to keep ogres more reliable when they're on a non-ogre team, hence Bonehead. When they are on an Ogre team however they become more than boneheads because they are not surrounded with the most brilliant minds of the Old World. As ogres tend to look down upon goblins (in more ways than one) they tend to overlook any orders that the goblins yell at them. Egged on by their fellow ogres, the worst in them tends to come out.

I think that this could definitely make them more unpredictable than their current incarnation, however it still allows them access to the skills they will need to be a somewhat competative team. Also, since ogres on an ogre team are not Big Guys, the coach may use a reroll to allow that ogre another chance to try and complete his action.

You could even call the trait "Surrounded by Boneheads" or something like that to keep it more in line with the flavor of an ogre team.

Oh actualy I do have something to add. There *is* a lack of strength skills available so maybe adding "Toughness" (+1 AV) as a strenght skill (as apposed to General trait I presume) would be good (for the ogres anyway).

Toughness would replace spikes mutation as I understand it.

As an added bonus this could toughen up Norse slightly as well.

Another Idea is that strong arm could be made a striength skill instead of a passing trait. Normal throwers could still gain it on a double but it gives Ogre teams another valuable skill and the possiblily to develop an realativly capable thrower if you so wished.

.. Im not sure if I really like these ideas or not but Im just throwing them up anyway.

I'm not to fond of moving strong arm to strength.

I believe Galak's solution to the lack of strength skills was to allow any skill rolls after all the strength skills were taken for a player to count as doubles. Which is a good fix to the problem but at the end of the day I think we still need more skills in all the categories. Maybe put some of the great skill sugestions we have seen floating around in the vault and get a few new ones in the LRB someday.

As I said in my post, Im not too sure if i like it myself or not either but the problem with Galaks solution that you mentioned is that there really isnt any choices for developing your Ogres who dont roll doubles. They would all have the same 4 first skills. More ST skills would be nice for this team and Strong Arm to ST skill could give the option of developing an Ogre Thrower-type on an ogre team without really affecting anyother teams.

The reason I have reservations about moving it is beacue it brings up the question of what happens with Strong arm when throwing Team mate (I hear people ask this all the time already which is stupid as no player currently can even have TTM and Strong arm!)

I've just posted something like this in another topic so if you think I'm flaming or sumthin' please bear with me :)

I don't like Big Guys as able or skilled players, it's un-fluffy (and IMO fluff is the only justification they have for existing at all), and removing general skill access would be the perfect fix.

This should, in my little perfect world, count for ALL big guys (and obviously ogres on ogre teams whether they have the actual big guy trait or not).

just my little biased contribution...

oh, and Galak.. you rule =)

1) ST only access on the Ogres
2) Drop the concept of the Ogre team forever from BB

I'll let you pick.
I pick 2.

I would think that option 2 was definitely not a choice as the specialist games sculptors went to a heck of a lot of trouble to create these cool miniatures. While I will probably still never purchase an ogre team, I still think that the models are incredibly cool. I am planning on purchasing the new troll model as soon as it becomes available as well for use on my orc and chaos dwarf teams.
