Shocking! Unreleased 2nd ed. Chaos Player!

Post by narkotic »

This is a mini I obtained recently:

Some of you might recognize it: one of the custom made players of Phil Lewis' Chaos All Stars

http://www.sodemons.com/technogallery/chaosas/index.htm

Here Galak tells that this particular mini is supposed to be a green stuff conversion of the Alien player who was base for the BB.net limited mini. Therefore it was considered unique

viewtopic.php?t=8697&postdays=0&postord ... c1d42bb2c9

But obviously that's not the complete truth. The mini I have is completely cast from pewter. The slotta tag is blank. I suppose this is one of the test castings of this chaos player. Though there is no confirmation about it's origin as the guy I have it from got the mini from a second hand lot years ago. Anyway, if this assumption is right than there are probably just 3-4 (??) of this mini in existence - like there are only 3 original casts of the Alien mini as Galak/Phil Lewis stated previously - turning this find into something very rare...

Well, those buggers are still available in fact: GW/Fanatic drips them out in a semi-random basis on tourneys. Anyway, the Res GR is a classic example for supply & demand driven prices. I don't own one of them bc I really don't like the fig.

As a collector I wouldn't reject one but I'd never pay it's current market value. When it comes to 2nd ed minis it's a different story for me, though. Must be something mental...

Well, collecting and chasing variants and withdrawn minis is one thing, going for test casts is a completely different matter. It's just plain luck to get one and if they appear on the market they tend to get clotted at some collector's drawer, vanishing forever. Who knows what has been cast for BB but really did not get any circulation at all???

What remains unanswered after this is:
1) are there test casts of other Chaos All Stars as well?
2) why didn't Phil Lewis wasn't aware of the existence of this pewter cast chaos player? Maybe Galak can answer, but he seems off for some time now...
