The coin flip

Post by Da Scum »

This modern "Flipping a coin" just feels way to wrong for Blood-bowl. I miss when we used to "Flip the Ref" and call them "Live or Dead".

Mind you this attitude might explain all the penelties and ejections I have had called against me in league play.

We rolled a dice, highest chooses, which explained why I never chose

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

"Flipping the ref" -coin would be cool: use the coin that we have, but draw a dead ref on the other side and a live one on the other :)

My Chaos team used to Flip the 'Fling, but sometimes due to excessive stickiness he would end up stuck to the captain's thumb and the Minotaur would have to eat him off.

I also had a team with two human blizers called Rozencrantz and Guildernstern.

I always called heads....

I'm all for both coaches just going out to the back yard and fighting for it with big sticks, bricks, or whatever other garden weaponry comes to hand. Seems entirely fitting to me.

Um...ok, maybe just arm-wrestle for it then...

Determining who goes first

Post by Babs »

The Coin toss is not quite an equal flip either.

Has anyone noticed that the way the coin flips in the air is biased towards the squig because of the way the cardboard is pressed?

We have noticed a distinct bias of flipping 'squigs' over 'eagles'.

Here we dice for it as an alternative mainly because so many coahses have lost their special 'coin'.

Chalk up another way cool thing for the NAF to produce - a genuine NAF coin for the toss?

People interested?

It would be cool with a official coin.

How about making a skull on the one side and the Defender down star on the other side.

An official coin would be cool, though I don't think many people would want to buy one. Most people I know just use dice instead of the coin. Don't know if an official coin would change their habits.

We normally used dice, but i would definately go with a coin if the naf comes out with one. I think it would be perfect for tournaments.

The Coin Toss is a completely unbalanced rule and should removed. :P
