Miniatures in planes

Post by lineman »

Do you know if there may be a problem to go through security on an airport with Blood Bowl miniatures in your lugguage? Some of them have very sharp parts (Undead mummies, trolls...).

I got stopped with my orc army all packed into a box in a backpack. It showed up on the x-ray as a big suspicious blob of metal. It was only to go from Windsor to Toronto about 3 years pre 911. Made me unpack all of em then repack with a line up behind me.

Keep them easy to get at!

Never had a problem in two flights (one UK internal and one UK-Amsterdam), I'd leave your Mithril Spike trophy at home, that's a bit dodgy (assuming you have one) but other than that there should be no worry, it all depends on the security working that day really.

I've gone through airport security a few times with minis and had no problems, I think that if you have them in a carrying case, the x-ray (or whatever it is) machine will be able to see the individual minis and there will be no problem.

Using a GW case as a carry on I have had no problems. They open it up, take a quick look, and then you're on your way.

I got stopped on my way through at Schipol after the Dutch Open this year. They let me through after a quick chat. That's the only time I have had trouble with figures as carry on.

What the hell am I going to do? Menace someone with a Wormhowl Grayscar?

As long as you are not carrying a smelting machine with bullet cast!

Gunpowder mixed in with scenery flocking, a metal lighter, Steel Pipe spring loaded Pen and Laser pointer! You should be safe enough!

However Mr Morg'N'Thorg may be able to poke an eye out with his blade so you may have to cork it? :P

8) I have opened up the case every time and security got a kick out of it each time. They thought they were purchased that way (painted). When I explain that I painted them myself, they just whistle and talk about painting such small detail....and have a nice flight and such.

John

as i read this i had just lifted wormhowl off the top on my contact lense case... it was rather freaky that of all the players you could have mentioned that it was him...

nothing to say on the actual topic tho...

I have had my figs with me to many different countries and it have never been a problem, they might want to see what it is and that is it. I even had the giant for O&G with me once, that made them look at the screen rather funny, but showing it to them solved all the questions.
