Alternative woodelves

Post by Teluriel »

Hello,

ive had a woodelf team for about 6 years now, but i feel that the miniatures aren't that great.

Anyone has any advice for alternative woodelves?

My advice would be to look on eBay for 2nd edition elf figures, IMO they are some of the best BB figs ever made.

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".

I totally agree with Munkey!! Other alternatives would be Shadowforge's female elves, Phil's Phigs Black Widows, or GW's Pro Elf Team.

You really can't go wrong with the 2nd editioen elves. After all they are sculpted by Jes GODwin

And you can use them both as high and wood elves

I'm gonna do a 22 man 2nd Dark Elf Squad to be used as any one of the 4 elf teams. Most people don't like them bc of their static poses, but their positionals aren't that bad and I'm fond of them. I have removed their head feathers and they turned out to be really cool.

I have 2 elf teams of which one of them is a current project for next year's TKC III in Tampa(?) 8) . The current project is a Elf team that will work as a Pro Elf/ Dark elf team with a black uniform and blue/grey skin using 2nd ed plastic elves for linemen, 3rd ed. DE linemen as blitzers, a 3rd ed. wood elf thrower and a Pro elf thrower (actually RAISED his hair with greenstuff to better match the linemen), elric Sidewinder and Phil's Black Widows as Catchers with 3rd ed. witch elves and a 2nd. ed thrower as a head coach.
The other team has a little bit more fore-thought and will work as a wood elf/pro elf/dark elf team using more 2nd ed. elves, 3rd ed. wood elves and a more flesh -colored skin.
All the figs CAN work well together with a good plan and color scheme. I paint so slowly that most of my teams HAVE to pull double-to-triple-duty!
I never have really cared for the 2nd ed. catchers though.

Hi Teluriel,
I have an alternative wood elf team, aptly called "Force of Nature".
I'm using dryad miniatures for all the wood elfs, and the big lumbering treeman (from marauder miniatures, way back when) as the treeman.

Cheers
Martin

Both are good choices, but I like the look of some of the new plastic wardancers and am wondering about converting them.
