Oh, oh. Guys I can't be bothered to put up a new thread. But my PBBL goblin team just got a couple of doubles. (And protected my 100% winning record this season, Go Gobbos!)

One is on a generic Goblin with no skills. Should I get Block or is Sure Hands that much better? (I really, really want Block...)

The other was a 6+6!
...On a Bombardier :(
So I'm not going to take the +ST, it'll be completely useless as then he'll become a ST3 Secret Weapon Blitzer. Which isn't worth the 50K extra imo (and my Pogoer already has ST3.)
Instead I'm going to grab a Passing Skill. The question is, which one?

Pass, Hail Mary Pass or Accurate?

I would go for pass, so you can spare Team RR for other things. Or what about pro so you can reroll anything that goes with the bombing?

HMPing from deep in the back field is very tempting, right now it's my #1 Choice. Though I know as soon as I start doing it the other guys in the league are going to claim that I'm making stuff up again. They do that every time I show them something like this.

Come on, the bombardier skill clearly says that ball-skills can be used for bombs! If they can't even deal with some gobbo's...
In my league people claimed that every team I played was overpowered: dwarves are overpowered (ok, maybe), khemri are overpowered, dark elves are overpowered...

The run of doubles continues.

Got a doubles on my first roll with the Chainsaw.

What the hell do I want there?
I'm not 100% sure I can stack Dirty Player onto the Chainsaw
LRB 5.0 wrote:...A player armed with a chainsaw may take a Foul Action, and

But it doesn't have the disclaimer text that Mighty Blow has
LRB 5.0 - Mighty Blow Skill wrote: ...Mighty Blow cannot be used with the Stab or Chainsaw skills.
It looks like I can, and tbh that's tempting to take. Block seems ok but I can get Nobbla if I really want a Chainsaw with Block.

Also need to remember it'll be a long time before he'll hit the second roll (needs 2 MVPS... which means he probably needs to survive 20+ matches)

Suggestions on what to take?

My chainsaw guy gets targeted for an opposing blitz since going down on his chainsaw is a sure way to get him off the field.

So I'd take whatever skill is the most protective. Definitely block from where I'm sitting!

===============

The more I look at my own fledgling gobbo SWs, the more I see the insanity of allowing the bombadier only agility skills! As another worthy pointed out, the most important thing to the bombadier is passing skills. I can't see a single agility skill that helps him deliver a bomb. And check out his capacity for progression... which is to say zero!!!!! Ok, he could get an MVP  but is not bloody likely to cause a casualty (bomb casualties don't count for SPP) by blocking, can't score a touchdown, pass completion or interception (no hands).

Don't get me wrong, I do love the bombadier's effects (when he's on target) but I don't think he'll ever skill up in a reasonable amount of time (which I guess makes the rant about passing skills moot!)

Block then Dodge is pretty tempting. But for the most part I foul with my Chainsaw, so DP would be pretty good. Fouling is really important for me, it's the only way I can get eliminations as my Trolls just suck.

HMP is a LOT of fun on the bomber btw. I blew up an Ogre twice today.

Shame I'm always down to about 7 players by the second half. :(

Chainsaw & DP do stack, so a +3/+1 or +4/+0 looks really tempting. He's going to get sent off anyway...

I feel your pain

My opinion, given the possibility of getting thrown out on doubles, is that you use the chainsaw non-foul liberally till that turn/moment just before a score/half. Then foul with him since he's gonna get ejected anyway.

Just one greenskin's opinion.

How did you get the bombardier enough SPP to get HMP?! I'm really curious.

Heh, heh, raining bombs on Ogres! Love it!

My MVPs keep landing on my Secret Weapons. Out of 6 games it's been, Pogoer, Bomber *2, Chainsaw *2, Troll *1.

And I think I'm going with DP. Block doesn't improve my chances of eliminating a player with my Chainsaw. This way I can use my SWs for the job of fouling and concentrate on skills that keep my normal Gobbos alive.

I have a HMP Zombie Hobgoblin bomber in the MBBL2. :D You can get them to start thanks to bionics over there.

This was done because otherwise every Goblin team would have an HMP Bomber eventually.

I've used HMP Bombers in the MBBL2 where they are not that difficult to get (as Nazgit already mentioned). I had a Skaven team with 2 Skaven Throwers equipped with bombs and HMP. They are REAL nasty and I get pushback on them already.

So there was no way I was allowing that as a normal skill roll for the Bomber. Sorry guys ... never was going to happen ... because I've played with these types of players already so I knew that there was no way I could allow them to be more than very rare in LRB rules.

Also with JJ's change to the Treasury being free ... it should be pretty easy for a Goblin team to design his roster to get 1 to 2 Bribes a game.

I understand that Passing access was not allowed because of HMP. IT's just a shame because all the other passing skills aren't over powering with the Gobbo bomber imo.

As it stands a non-doubles Bomber is inferior to lowballing your TV and inducing the Dribblesnot Star Player for the matches where you need bombs.
That's pretty much how I do it atm, I induce Ripper plus the most approriate SW star player.
And once My Bomber dies I'm not replacing him with an on roster bomber again. Fielding all 4 SWs makes the goblin team worse than 'flings.

tbh the only two really worth keeping on roster are the Fanatic and Looney. The Pogoer is almost good enough, but it's touch and go if you should bother with him as Scrappa does a better job for 50K.

(all imo obviously)
