As I've mentioned on other threads, consider giving your skinks Guard as a later skill. Can you imagine the number of swarming assists you can give your saurus and/or krox if most of your little guys are dodging into places where they can assist? The more the merrier in blocking, after all...try it and see! 8)

Even without double Skill rolls you can get an awesome LOS with Lizzies.

Get you Krox 1 skill (Guard), and place 2 skilled (Block) Sauri next to him. Then get the remaining Sauri 2 rows behind, one in the widezone and 1 just next to the widezone. The inner Sauri preferably with Stand Firm and Guard, the outer ones with Break Tackle. 4 Skinks behind the rear Sauri ready to break trhough and capitalize on your opponents errors/failures.

Cheers!

bounce,
Fisrt off, a skink with doubles and you gave him Sure Feet over Block? I would (and have) made the opposite choice (numerous times in fact). Blodging skinks are such an irritation for your opponent that they free up other players to do stuff.

As for my line, the setup really depends on who I'm playing. If I am going all out it's:

SSKSS

With one Saurus (the one with kick usually) hanging out a square or two back from the Krox. Other times (think Elves) it's usually looks more like this (sorry about the lack os ASCII art skills):

#SKS#
S###S

Unfortaunately, after a fairly brutal game against the local Halflings, I lost my only Saurus to get a Double. I already miss my blodging Saurus but, for the time being, I will let the three with Block and Mighty Blow kill things until I feel better. 8)

I still haven't rolled doubles on a skink. Did get doubles on a saurus though, he is now a dodge-i-saurus, just waiting for his next skill then I will have the almighty blodgisaurus.

so far 5 wins, one loss.

1 saurus with break tackle and one cas shy of a new skill
1 saurus with dodge
4 unskilled sauri (replaced the - 1str with a healthy saurus)

2 skinks with sidestep and diving tackle
1 with side step
1 with diving catch
1 with sure feet
2 unskilled skinks (new recruits)

I need to work on skilling up my sauri, I think I will hold off on buying a krox as the season is only 10 games and 2 playoff rounds. Might buy one early next season.

Side step is awesome, on nondoubles it is my go to skill. Wish I had choosen catch instead of DC on the skink, but I am hoping for doubles on him and can turn him into my kick off returner.

Season is going well. I score early and often 6 games and 16 TD, only 5 cas inflicted by me though. I have recieved 9 Cas and half of those were on sauri. (ussually Pow/skulls that I didn't reroll)

Bounce,

I would suggest Break Tackle instead of Block for the Saurus with Dodge. You can easily dodge to tackle zones then with this guy, and you will have a reroll for it. I also think it is better to have two Break Tackle guys in your team, so one of them will always be available to blitz.

Cheers

Skills on Sauri.

Assuming no stat increases or doubles...Saurus development:

Okay first skills I see on a saurus is Break Tackle, you need a strong blitzer. Then I see a couple of "block"ers next
Another Break tackler and 2 more blockers.

Okay I have a solid start, but I start wondering what should be my next skills on these guys.

The first Break Tackler I am thinking juggernaut followed by frenzy (if/when 4th skill = strip ball)

The blockers I am thinking Mighty blow to increase cas and thus allow them to advance a little quicker and help clear the field for the skinks maybe stand firm or guard as the third skills

The second Break Tackler, second skill guard also or something different?

Please help me flesh these ideas out.

The 'problem' is, that there are so much options for Sauri to choose from..

First get some Break Tacklers and Blockers. A Frenzier with Juggernaut later on is very handy. The Break Tacklers (being the main Blitzers) want Block or Juggernaut as well as a second skill, to avoid turnovers. The Blockers could do with Tackle, Mighty Blow or Stand Firm as well, but Tackle and Mighty Blow as well as Strip Ball can be very handy on the Blitzers as well.

Luckily, the Sauri take about a thousand years to develop, so you got lots of time to think about it.... ;)

yeah, my skinks all have two skills after only 11 games (one has 3), but my sauri only have 4 total between the six of them (2 on one saurus) after as many games.

He probably has bloody normal dice rolls... unlike my failed attempt at Lizzies....

No skink deaths, only one niggled (still have him as a sneaky git). Aside from that I came in 4th in our league only losing 2 matches (one being my first round in the playoffs) and tying one. Averaged about 2.5 TDs per game. Only had to fire one injured skink and a saurus with -1str and no SPPS on either. Good season even played some really good opponents

Record for first season 8-2-1
cas for 12 cas against 16 (mostly BH and MNG)
TDs 28 for, 14 against
8 completions
and 1 Saurus interception (boo yahh!)

Good season, crappy ending lost to a chaos dwarf team with 200,000gp in inducements.
