I'm guessing Beak Tackle is on his "to get" list.wesleytj wrote:He's still only AG2.

Goblins can be pretty useful creatures. Throw team mate works well at getting a deep reciever free or hassling an opponents ball carrier from the off. I like Side Step and Diving Tackle for that role.
Also handy at the back of a cage so they can use their Dodge skill lto keep the cage together.
I always like to have two but I know people who run four and use them to get assists in awkward spaces etc and don't mind when they get hurt as they then get the use of a Journeyman Line Orc.
I'm sure there are other ideas...

I love to have a couple of Goblins on my Orc team. They can get in position for assists way easier than other players can. He's also a good receiver as well for those last resort passing plays. I tend to get a Blitzer or Thrower carry the ball. Then if I need to do a dash to the EZ in TZs, then I can handoff to a Goblin and let him to the dodging.
They are better than Lineorcs at fouling.
I tend not to throw them too much though. Yeah, they're cheap, but so many things can go wrong with the Troll and with the landing that I have found that they die too often for my taste. But it worth it to chuck a little gits once in a while.

Early on gobbos are pretty good. Not too many teams have a lot of block/tackle - and against those without the nusiance value is good.NightDragon 2 wrote:How essential are gobbos to an Orc team and if you should take any how many?
However they do go pop easily - so my recommendation used to be start with a few - skill them up for the TTM efforts (Sure Feet, Sprint, Catch etc) and let them die off until you've only got one left - who is reserved for the instances you want to TTM.
However I think in the brave new LRB5 world do you really want 80k of gobbo giving away inducements every game for the occassional TTM? Probably not since the cost of the inducements probably outweighs the occassional advantage.
So I think the recommendation now is to start with some if you want - but let them die off and don't replace them.

The jury is still out on Goblins. Some people use em. Some don't. Both can be successful. It's just whether your style of play will get much out of them or not. I find them most useful against elves or other agility teams as they can cause havoc once the opposition side is thinned out a bit. Diving tackle can be great to mark elf recievers and elves are less likely to squish them.

Hi,
I'm digging this thread up again as two further players skilled up and I'm undecided about what to give them.
Troll - Guard
Blitzer - Tackle (15 SPP)
Blitzer - Jump Up, +MA
Blitzer - Frenzy, Skill
Blitzer - Dodge
Black Orc - Block, MA+1
Black Orc - Guard
Black Orc - Block
Black Orc - nothing
Goblin - nothing
Thrower - (3 SPP)
Line Orc - Sure Hands (14 SPP)
Line Orc - Dirty Player Double
3 RR, 6 FF, 1 AC, 1 CL
Last two games went really bad (took 7 CAS against a Khemri team
- "luckily" mostly BH).
My questions are: I'm planning to give Guard to both the Blitzer and the Linorc who rolled doubles (I'm not too hot on Sneaky Git, but maybe I'm wrong).. What do you think? And I have 100.000 in the bank so I thought I'd buy a Reroll next.
Looking forward to your comments

You choose Dirty Player first. His role and positioning is very different from a Guard lineman. So I'd "stick to your knitting" and go with Sneaky Git.
But I wouldn't have chosen Dirty Player in the first place...
