Big guys. use `em or lose`em?

Post by 20694377 »

I am curently playing in a league where the commisioner has allowed every team to use any big guy they want, ( lame ), but only as many as the team allows ( still lame ). Dwarf team with an Ogre...a bit overwhelming if you as me!

Anyone played a league out their with this variation in rules and what has been your expeirence?

in my opinion ... your commission made a bad call.

However house rules are to taste. If your league likes them that is normally all I need to hear.

Its only when they don't seem to be working that I suggest that a house rules may not be the best idea (we did write LRB 5.0 the way it is for a reason (ie balance)).

Dwarf teams do have a big guy (kinda) in the form of their secret weapon.

Are you stating that dwarves in your league get a deathroller and an ogre?

If so, that's a tough lineup. Especially if the dwarves are receiving...

Why would you take an Ogre?

Beast or Snow Troll for me...

But no, I think it's a bad idea.

Yes. I can choose any big guy I want plus the death roller on my team.

I am using a dwarf team here is the line up:

2 TS 1 with mb the other with guard
2 bLIT 1 with mighty blow
2 RUNR
6 BLKRS

ff:9
trr: 3

2 assistants
2 cheerleaders
1 apoth

team value 1,280,000

record is 2-1 : beat amazon team 2-1 beat dark elf team 1-0 and lost to human team 2-0 ( the dice caught me that game rolled ones and skulls almost every dice roll, but kicked his ogres ass up and down the pitch with both troll slayers)

I refuse to use a big guy even if the team I am using is allowed. Can't get over bone-head, always ungry.... just plain lame.

I agree that the commisioner made a bad decision. The only reason he decided to do that was because he had already bought the big guys years ago and wanted to use them on any team he chose.

I don't like the death roller because I can only use him 1 half out of the game. 160k on eight turns does not seem like a good use of my money.

Now that never a good reason to base a rule on (even when Jervis did for LRB 5.0).
