I wasn't clear on my post. What I'm saying is to put Mighty Blow on a couple of them, then Guard on the others so that you can put 3 to 5 blockers on the line and every other player is mighty blow with a guard player between them.

_ _ G MB G MB G _ _

This way, you do get a lot of 2 die blocks, but you are also beating up the opposition line.

Can i ask why. I'd have thought Guard, MB and Stand Firm across the Blockers in varying degrees.

Thanks, d

I am guessing that this is a restriction that he is setting forhimself to prevent the team from becoming too powerful. He has not said as much, but looking through the thread...and my own experience playing dwarfs...people wince when they see Dwarfs on the schedule. You can mitigate some of that dwarf hate by keeping them from getting broken.

People even complain about the amount of Guard dwarfs have when looking at your roster before a match. (It's ok that they have Blodge out the wazoo, but...)

Anyway, I am somewhat sympethetic to this perspective in a league setting, but at tournies people are investing their time and money to have a good time and to have a shot at winning.

---

Can we get the tactics part of this thread back on track?

Sorry, didn't see you post.
And you might not be still interested.

But if you are: I prefer to win by frustrating an opposing coach, not clearing the field of his players (which is a very unreliable tactic).

My blockers get: 2x Guard & Stand Firm, 2x Grab & Guard, 2x Stand Firm & Diving Tackle (hopefully). My Blitzers get Guard & Stand Firm.

Makes for a pretty nasty (to break) cage.
And not to short of CAS either due to the number of Guarding blocks.

Slayers get MB though, only seems right!

Thanks PB.

I enjoyed using the little guys!! but found them slightly frustrating because of their lack of speed. Found i started to do better in the game when they got stuck in

I suffer from shiney new team syndrome :D and i'm undecided what to use for the Yorkshire BB League that starts 01/07. Probably 8 league games with [fingers crossed] playoffs after.

Dwarfs, Zons, Skaven, CDs, Necros or Elfs (of some sort as throwing the ball is quite fun i found). I'm sure i'd be a better player if i just stuck to one team but i can't help myself

Thanks, d

No bother.

Where is the Yorkshire BB league based?

I went to uni in Bradford and struggled to find anything.

If you had to put +1ST on any player ...

The NT, TS or Blitzer

I'm minded to go with the central blocker on the LoS but is that a waste?

Thanks, d

Troll Slayer or Blitzer.

Frenzy vs Extra Mobility.

But if this is a Waterbowl type skill choice: take skills not +ST

1,100,000gp.
Must have at least 1 Fan Factor.
No star players.

Scoring

Swiss scoring 0-32pts

Skills and characteristics

After each game 1or 2 players will be given a skill or a characteristic increase. A player may not gain more than one skill or characteristic, but a player may be given 1 skill and 1 characteristic.

After:
Game 1: 2 players of your choice will receive a normal skill.
Game 2: 1 player of your choice will gain +1 strength.
Game 3: 1 player of your choice will receive a double skill.
Game 4: 1 player of your choice will gain +1 agility.

I'm strangely drawn back to these bad boys :)

Troll Bowl right?

I wasn't wild about th skill set for Dwards but I guess I would go:

Game 1: Block on a Runner, Guard on a Blitzer
Game 2: +ST on a Troll Slayer
Game 3: Guard on the 2nd Blitzer
Game 4:+AG on your Block Runner

The skill set favors mobile teams who can make the most of doubling up advances:

Wardancer with +1ST & Frenzy
Wardancer with +1AG & Strip Ball

Thanks - Toy Soldier.

I was struggling with the skill set (the Runners need protection as you say which limits your options) and your blowing a double on the 2nd Blitzer confirmed that for me. I may have to save the little guys for YBBL and go back to Zons for TS then.

Thanks fella. d

Troll bowl has a better system. everything is random on who gets the skills and there are no characteristic increases. I have done the rules for both events and i think troll bowl works better. For me its going to be humans or nurgle for toy soldier.

Hope to see some of you guys there. :D
