Lizardmen question

Post by sympatico »

In a one off game, is it better to build your team like this

1 kroxigor
4 saurus
7 skinks
2 rerolls

or this

1 kroxigor
4 saurus
6 skinks
3 rerolls

Not using ff, so never mind that. Is it better to take the extra skink or extra reroll? Thoughts?

I'd say the re-roll. In my experience, Lizards burn the things WAY faster than some other teams I've used. Skinks also tend to be a little hardiet than you'd think, having the Saurus to hide behind.

In a one-off, I'd be hesitant to go for the Krox, instead opting for 3 RR, 5 Sauri and 7 Skinks. A Krox is basically a Saurus and a Re-Roll.

I like using one-off games to get a feel for a team, either for myself or for another coach. So I'd keep the Krox but go for the 3rd RR. Maybe only take 3 Sauruses, since a Krox is a "Saurus and a Reroll" in price.

Rationale? The Krox is a useful member of the team. Maybe not good on a starting roster for a league, but he'll eventually show up on the roster anyways. So for just beer-and-pretzels fun, I'd keep the Krox.

My bias: when we play one-off games we often only play one half not two. The games are more like learning experiences for training new coaches.

The second half is the time when the reserve becomes most critical, so playing only one half will give you a skewed view of relative value. If you're just trying to see how the Krox goes before you play a league, then ditch the reserve. 2RR for Lizardmen is hard to work with.
