Nurgle in TV 120 Tournament
Hi,
I'm planning to take part in a TV120 tournament.
Here are the rules:
. Skills, Inducements and Star Players may be purchased
. One (1) player of the team must be designated as the Captain of the team. This player must be given at least two (2) skills (one of which must be the LEADER skill).
. Players may only receive two (2) skills maximum; the Leader excepted.
Here is what I came up with:
1 x Beast - Leader, Block
3 x Nurgle Warrior - Block
1 x Pestigor - Sure Hands
1 x Pestigor - Block, Dodge
1 x Pestigor - Block, Tackle
3 x Rotter
2 x Reroll
Can anyone comment/present alternatives to this?
Thanks.

I wouldn't load up on skills so much IMO. You have 230K of skills there, so that's only 970K of team.
I might go with:
Beast - Block
Warrior - Block, Leader
Warrior - Block
2 Warriors
Pestigor - Sure Hands
Pestigor
5 Rotters
2 Rerolls
I think 3 pestigors is overkill. They are great in leagues, but not sure they are worth 2 rotters in a tournament.
If you can stack skills, then Claw, MB, Piling On is something to consider. All normal skills for a warrior or pestigor.

Thanks for the advice,
I originally loaded up on skills because I was concerned about the number of rerolls I could waste on failed blocks. If I want to bash all a lot I will have to roll a lot of block dice.
I also thought that 3 pestigors would give me more mobility and having block on the blitzers will make stay longer on the pitch.
I don't like the fact that my roster only has 11 and only 3 warriors...
Anybody else with suggestions?

think i would rather have 3 and 3 than 4 and 2
wouldn't wrestle/tackle be better than block/tackle as well
not sure about taking blodge either
there may be some merit in taking grab instead of block on the beast, taking perhaps stripball or two heads instead of dodge
this lets you pick another normal skill roll as well
could load one pestigor up with wrestle, stripball and tackle, then another with twoheads and big hand for example
grab will keep players in positions to hit with your warriors and next to the beasts tentacles

I like the idea of taking Grab, as far as the pestigors go I can only give them 2 skills max.
What about this?
1 x Beast - Grab
2 x Nurgle Warrior - Block
1 x Nurgle Warrior - Leader, Block, Mighty Blow
1 x Pestigor - Sure Hands
1 x Pestigor - Block, Wrestle
1 x Pestigor - Block, Tackle
3 x Rotter
2 x Reroll
I changed Block for Grab on th beast, and Dodge for Wresle on a pestigor.
That allows me to take Mighty blow on a warrior. Big hand sounded overkill with Sure hands.

I've never played Nurgle, but these are my observations
I don't think I would put Leader on the guy that looks to be your main killer since he is going to be in the thick of things quite often.pyttroll wrote:1 x Nurgle Warrior - Leader, Block, Mighty Blow
Isn't this just overkill? I would agree with Grumbledook and replace Block with Strip Ball.pyttroll wrote:1 x Pestigor - Block, Wrestle

It make sense but he is AV 9 and I'm a bit concerned putting it on a AV8 player.bjorn9486 wrote:I don't think I would put Leader on the guy that looks to be your main killer since he is going to be in the thick of things quite often.
I actually made a mistake in my previous post, it was meant to be:bjorn9486 wrote:Isn't this just overkill? I would agree with Grumbledook and replace Block with Strip Ball.

Wrestle + Strip Ball might be really interesting indeed.

don't put mighty blow and leader on the same guy
you lose 3 skills if you lose a player instead of 2, there is no extra benefit to giving it to same player, only detriments
wrestle and strip ball vs a ball carrier with block will knock the ball loose on anything but a skull
block and stripball doesn't
obv sure hands and block takes the odds down a chunk, but wrestle still knocks them down more often than having block will
if you are using him to blitz the ball carrier than wrestle > block, if you want him to stay on his feet more than block > wrestle, but it is easily countered by carrying the ball with a block player

Yeah I agree, but I am assuming that this guys is going to start on the line? If so, he may be KO'ed or worse on the first turn, before you've got a chance to use it. If you put it on an AV 8 guy in the back, you have at least a couple turns of it being available.pyttroll wrote:It make sense but he is AV 9 and I'm a bit concerned putting it on a AV8 player.
Ahh, well then that works well.pyttroll wrote:I actually made a mistake in my previous post, it was meant to be:

So here is where I stand:
1 x Beast - Grab
2 x Nurgle Warrior - Block
1 x Nurgle Warrior - Block, Mighty Blow
1 x Pestigor - Sure Hands, Leader
1 x Pestigor - Wrestle, Strip Ball
1 x Pestigor - Block, Tackle
3 x Rotter
2 x Reroll
Should I give take kick instead of mighty blow?

Having read/said that... a pooch kick would work as long as you can bash into the forward corner of the pitch....pyttroll wrote:Yeah I guess it's going to be hard to run to the endzoneGrumbledook wrote:kick will be a waste
you don't have the speed or agility to take advantage of it, useful in a league but not in this situation

thought about putting Stand Firm on the Beast?
if you use him to stand next to bunch of players, holding them still with tentacles, then all it takes is one push back and without SF the rest can then walk away at leisure.

Very good idea indeed, this is going to be a very sticky beast...lunchmoney wrote:thought about putting Stand Firm on the Beast?
