Oh Joy! Your mates will hate you!Tkkultist wrote:Finished the half (game was on temp hiatus when i posted) and made some good plays earning enough points for blitzer and lino to each go up
Lino - +AG or skill
Blitzer - +mv/+AV/Skill

Lino: +AG on the lino is a god send. Put some MVPs on this guy and give him Wrestle (or block if you like to) and Strip Ball (later add Tackle). Here you have a guy that blitzes any cage on 2+ and get two blockdice most of the time (explained below). AG is SOOO useful on a Slann team! And +AG linos makes the best blitzers in the game (maybe slight exagerration).
Blitzer: Theese guys exist for their ability to provide you with easy access Guard. Ignore the upgrades and give him guard pronto! You'll love it.
If further explanation is required, here we go. The mobility of the Blitzer (M7) and the DT makes the Guard:ing blitzer a great support-player on offense and fine man-marker on defense. With Side Step they get downright annoying. They very easily jump into a cage to provide Guard (with AG4 you do this on 2+ which is why guard is lovely on catchers on a double). Move another player in to negate support from the cagers, Leap in with your AG4 blitzer = ball on the ground. Scoop it up with a catcher.
So.
Lino +AG
Blitzer Guard
Recently I made 8 successful cage blitzes in one game vs a developed dwarf team using this method...

Just noticed that you chose block.
Well. When you get a guy with Guard you'll se that I was right...
Mobility is what makes Slann tick. And the ability to provide Guard in hard to reach places is unique and a game winner.
If not for the S-access, blitzers would have little use in a Slann team.

Well, I can't say that you're wrong when it comes to survavibility, but the use of Guard is so damned usefull in this team that the benefits of getting it early is well worth the risk of getting getting those both down results.Mad Banker wrote:IMHO they need block first for survavibility and usefulness, after that guard is high priority if you don't have any yet in the team.Ikterus wrote:Just noticed that you chose block.

I have given all my blitzers Guard as first skill and never regretted it.
The S-access is the only thing that makes the blitzers worth buying (they are expensive...). If you're not giving them Guard, buy linos instead.

I have to admit that I already had guard on a catcher before my blitzers skilled up... so that need was already catered when I had to choose a skill for them.Ikterus wrote:Well, I can't say that you're wrong when it comes to survavibility, but the use of Guard is so damned usefull in this team that the benefits of getting it early is well worth the risk of getting getting those both down results.Mad Banker wrote:IMHO they need block first for survavibility and usefulness, after that guard is high priority if you don't have any yet in the team.Ikterus wrote:Just noticed that you chose block.

I might have considered guard as first skill had this not be the case (though I'm not sure... they are so much more usefull with block than without, guard is an excellent second skill for at least one of them though)

I'd also go Block first
Going back to block or wrestle on the Blitzers as well, Blitzers can get juggernaut on normal rolls, which can cancel out both wrestle and fed when blitzing, if you have cancelled out wrestle, the target will unlikely have block and you get to knock them down. Cancelling out fend is obviously good if you also have piling on.

You lost me here... If you'll use him as a blitzer with Juggernaut, why choose Block first? Block and Juggernaut is in my book a waste of skill choices. When blitzing, a Juggernauter often don't need Block (if you get Strip Ball, which all Slann blitzers should have IMO). And also Wrestle and Strip Ball does the job better than Block + Juggernaut. Fend is not problem when hittng the BC (ball carrier).Grumbledook wrote:I'd also go Block first

Also why use the Blitzers as blitzers (I hope you get what I mean)? The only thing that makes them better than linos at hitting the BC is the extra square of movement and that's a small con. What Blitzers do however is support. DT is a passive skill and goes well with Guard.
