Big Guys
Now I seem to have come a bit unstuck atm with regard to big guys. I have a skaven and choas dwarf team in FUMBBL, no big guy on either team. Now I can't seem to cop with them at all once they get pro and block. My skaven after a great start have come to a standstill, i lose lots of players and alaways get out numbered. Now I am managing to hold out for draws atm but lucks not with me and I can't seem to win, purely because I am playing drives with 6 or 5 players, many of which are skilless cause they keep having to get replaced.
Now a big problem is a big guy. It seems the only way I can feasably stop the menace is to get one of my own. Someone suggested avoiding them. Now I have to put 3 players on the LOS, bit hard to avoid that. The other problem with this, is that it leaves them free to rampage wherever they want to on the pitch.
My choas dwarfs had no problems to start with until, other teams started picking up guard, rendering my own guard skill rather inept at helping. Also my complete lack of double skills means I don't have anyone with dauntless on either team.
Ive never really had a problem with big guys before becuase I used to only play undead and having 2 mummies sorted the problem out nicely. So is there a way to cope playing against a big guy without taking one yourself? This is especially so for the lower av teams of 7 who get crunched. High and dark elves cope a bit better with av8 so can take the battering a bit better and can score with less players anyway.
As far as I can see it things were better without the big guys, as it looks like I might have to take some anyway.
Now I also guess there must be a way to cope with the big guys, especially with skaven as a lot of people won't take a wild rat ogre. So any advice would be helpful, cause I don't want to take a troll or whatever just to remain competative.

I'm a Skaven coach who vowed not to take a RO because I hate WA. The only thing you can really to to try to offset this is get a player with dauntless and play in an extremely aggressive manner. I can say that it was much easier to play against big guys when they could not use leader or tournament rerolls.

You should try to keep the play away from the Big Guy. Kicking deep, spreading the play out and exploiting your greater speed.
CD's can man mark the BG with a CD. Av9 Block and TS go a long way.
Skavs should be able to keep away. Okay, AG3 doesn't help but you are better off failing to dodge than getting a 2/3 dice block.
On offense do the same, either give meaningless blocks to the BG or try to force him to defend where the BG isn't.
WA isn't so bad once you've got block.

I've been trying to give him meaningless blocks to keep him away from the play, thing is they usually end up getting a cas ;]
Its not so bad with the choas dwarfs, but the skaven are in a rut atm, in 14 games I have had 9 deaths, 10 si and 14 bh, I usually don't have the players to do much with :/

Ive had kick since game 2, there is also a really nasty rat ogre in another of the skaven teams. I don't normally have a problem with them with new starting teams, as the big guys are more of a liability then. Just with almost every team taking a big guy its hard to compete against them. I guess if i keep batteling through I will start to get some linemen with skills and keep them for a little while. Guess the biggest problem is the amount of injuries i am sustaining with them and you have to put some fodder on the los.
