Nurgle's Rot and crowd push
A player with Nurgle's Rot surfs an opposing player and the crowd kills it. Does the Nurgle player get a new rotter?
I would think no, as it is the crowd that gets the kill and not the player.

I would say it goes hand in hand with the block spps, you don't get them, so you don't get a rotter...

Crowd killed the player not the Rotter so you are correct ... no new Rotter.

Re: Nurgle's Rot and crowd push
Good question.
I have always played that crowd-surfed deaths do not qualify for new Rotters, and I believe this is the intention of the rule (confirmed by Galak).
However, the rules say only that the opponent must be killed during a Block, Blitz or Foul Action by a player with the "Nurgle's Rot" skill. Therefore under a strict and simple interpretation of the rules (see the Nurgle's Rot skill description), a crowd-surf from a Block or Blitz resulting in a death would appear to qualify for a new rookie Rotter.
I had not noticed this before. We seem to have an instance where the intent is clear, so is the rule, and they appear not to match. In the absence of an annual rules review, perhaps a Q&A clarification would do the trick.

Thanks, Darkson. The words "he kills" are the material ones here.

On this board an answer from GalakStarScraper is as good as an answer from a member of the BBRC.

But that okay ... its good to be questioned.
As for this topic ... yes the key wording is "he kills"

So who gets to answer the questions when the BBRC is disbanded?

Re: Nurgle's Rot and crowd push
Actually, the rules also stop female Nurgle players getting free Rotters...
I don't see any wording in the rules along the lines of 'for ease we use "he" instead of "he/she"'.
I think the BBRC need to issue a Q&A on whether this is intentional or not.

rotters aren't better addressed as "it"?
as much as the rest of the BB players (and some coach, too...)

Re: Nurgle's Rot and crowd push
That's OK, Galak and others, no offence intended or taken, I hope.
When an experienced coach asks a question of this kind, I try and look at the wording of the rules with a fresh mind (as though I were reading the rules for the first time). In cases such as this, the asking of the question can suggest the possibility that the rules might be made more clear (or perhaps less complex). If there were to be an orthodox rules review this year, I might suggest adding the words "on the pitch" after "he kills" as one way of improving clarity.
All the best.
