To buy or not to buy
So is the Cyanide game worth it? I haven't bought it at all but saw it again on Steam the other day and I have been trying to decide if I should pick up the Legendary Edition or not.
I assume it still has bugs and that playing on their servers is akin to playing with 10 year old cheaters?

I bought the game. It's ok, I quite enjoy it. Gives you the opportunity to 'try out' the different races. Personally I can't get the online part to register properly so I've missed out on the stroppy ten year olds disconnecting when their wardancer takes a dirtnap, etc!

I enjoy it and i sort of enjoy it when my oppo disconects after killing his star player or as happened today i was going to score to make it 2-0 at the half and he had 6 players ko'd
there are some t***s out there who will foul your best players every turn or moan when you block players on their team who can not stop you scoring
but ther are also lots of great people out there to play against, chat to.

I'd recommend it. If nothing else, it gives you something else to do with a computer when porn gets boring

Re: To buy or not to buy
Finally, I got PC game recently and it's ok. The rules are there, but the gameplay could be better. Mostly been playing solo campaigns with different teams. I like the lizardmen! Suits my style of playing, it seems.
I have learned a lot about tactics with it, when the computer does all the rules stuff and the games progress much faster than with our usual live tabletop sessions. I would recommend it to any BB fan.
I found the cheapest price at play.com. Downloading it from any online store is more expensive than the mailed DVD, which is mindless. Free delivery and all.
Play.com seemingly has very interesting IT systems when it comes to unsubscribing newsletters. They spam quite often and unsubscribing did not do anything. Then, I mailed them and they replied that they are sorry that I wanted to cancel my account. I told them I do not want to cancel the account, I just want you to stop mailing junk. They said ok, but it might need up to 10 days to stop the ads! Still, they keep coming.

Thanks for the replies. I probably will end up buying it this evening. If nothing else I can play single player campaigns.
Thanks for helping me spend $40 guys.

Shop around a little. Usually somebody will have it for around $10.00 or so. I wouldn't spend $40 unless you are having a serious urge to play.

Unless you are a sucker for nice graphics, you should consider fumbbl.com instead. Its free and has all the teams, but you might miss out on the disconnecting kids.

Current price is 12.49 euros with free delivery. I am not sure if they deliver to US but you might want to find it out.

Re: To buy or not to buy
The game is good fun as it is Bloodbowl after all. The AI is terrible but you can still get some enjoyment out of it by playing stunties or an all snotling team, either that or set yourself a wacky challenge like getting a team of superstars, clearing the pitch or winning 6-0.
There are a lot of spinless coaches in the open leagues who will quit as soon as you get the upper hand or they lose their apoth. But there are loads of great player run leagues and the Forum Open League (FOL) is a player run random TV matched system like naggaroth only they kick out cheats and abusive coaches.
Check out the Cyanide forum for more details. Like others have said I would shop around though as $40 is waaaay too much. I paid £18 for mine from play and that was months ago.

Re: To buy or not to buy
there are even mods to improve the AI, and trust me it needs improving alot
would recommend FOL, i started in nagg and first 4 games - 2dc's, one abusive kid and one silent player - didnt mind the last one
first 2 games in FOL the players have at least spoken, been very good games and no issues with dc's or abuse.

Re: To buy or not to buy
Well, I bought it for $39.99 from Steam, it will most likely go on sale next week or something. Probably paid too much but, I'll get my money's worth.
The AI is a bit... uh... Really Stupid? Bonehead? So it suits me perfect.
Started a single player campaign just to get used to it, some of the controls are a bit counter-intuitive. We'll see how it goes though.
One question, I noticed the direct IP connection, anyone have any issues getting that to work if you have a dynamic IP from your ISP and you are behind a firewall/router?

Re: To buy or not to buy
Single Player is not really worth spending much time on if you are remotely competent at the game!
The real value is in online play. There are a couple of decent public leagues like the Forum Open League (FOL) as mentioned above, where coaches that disconnect, or try to abuse the system are policed and kicked out. I even play a couple of games a week on the biggest of the public leagues (Naggaroth), which has no policing at all and I hardly ever encounter stroppy or abusive coaches there either (not to say that they don't exist!).
There are also plenty of very good online private leagues, such as Orca Cola, UKBBL, Ogham, Sturm Von Stahl, etc. which have great communities built up around them and only require you to commit to play one game a week.

Just play FUMBBL. Cynaide looks prettier but the functionality is piss poor so you'll soon get bored of it.
