Re: Nazgob's painting blog - Updated 15th Sept
Youtube has a series of 5 videos by a guy making the most of that mold material, sometimes achieving very good copies. Part of the trick is building a box and using a tool to compress the mold before it cools or before the putty cures. Pushing the putty in small blobs also reduces bubbles. For single side big things, he uses multiple layers and reheating in place (the toy car). Copying in the same orientation of the original mold probably also helps (minimize undercuts).

Thanks Nazgob. I guess now I need to go try it again.
Meanwhile, I have achieved fair results trying to build the Zombie helmets directly from GS.
It is amazing the effect of looking at multiple pictures of what you are trying to do has on the final outcome.

Re: Nazgob's painting blog - Updated 27th Oct
A nice open question then Do you have any thoughts or ideas for the NAF team yet?
In my view, I always prefer to see a nicely painted and uniquely converted team than a golden demon paintjob on out of the box models.
I also much prefer the GW 2nd edition styling to more recent intepretations. If you wanted my vote, then you should convert up some old school models in a new way and then paint them nicely
That doesn't help much of course - it just tells you what I like

I have an idea in mind, but I am not certain I will be doing heavy converting this time around. Although my idea requires quite a lot of modelling work.
I couldn't agree with you more about the second edition models. I really like them. Maybe not the humans quite so much, but the dark elves and pact are just superb.

To be honest, it's not much that you haven't already seen on the Golden Football, but still.

Love the z'elvis, those big images make him look like a fantastic oil painting rather than a mini. Though I have to say, the more I read your blog the more it looks like I'm a terrible influence on you.

If there ever comes an elvis team, I think his ex-Son-in-law has to be part of it.
