Re: Nazgob's painting blog - Calling Elvis
As said in the blog, he's the tournament mini for the West Coast Quake.
As far as I know, the only sure fire way to get one is to got to the tournament...
...but I obtained last year's WCQ tournament model (Chaos beastman cheerleader) at the Thrud Bowl auction, so you never know.

Glad to hear it. Be sure to check out Merry Mayhem News as well.
And no complaints about the derailment - I was wondering a similar thing.

Its an old GW mini from their Judge Dredd range that was released back in the 80's
The mini was a PERP - called Jakson Prince
Have seen the odd one or two for sale on Flea bay

I love the tattoos on your Norse players, but may I suggest that they need the same amount of shading as the rest of the skin?
Lovely painting all through the thread.

@korinth I did try to get the same shading, but I would agree that some sections were better than others. Glad you like them though.

It's been a while, but I finally wrote something up.
I expanded my thoughts on display stands, and did a little bit of a how-to on the one pictured below.

Outstanding work, old chap. I love the detailing on the tiles. I look forward to seeing more players mounted on it.
I was actually looking at picture frames in Wilko's the other day after reading your miser's guide. Very inspiring stuff! Where do you buy your foamboard from?

Glad you liked it.
the foam board came from hobbycraft, but a lot of hobby stores carry it.
and I mean hobby stores as opposed to gaming store - model railway places are good for this kind of thing.

Ta much mate, my local hobby shop had no idea what I was on about (they rarely do, they're useless) so I'll give Hobby Craft a ring.nazgob wrote:the foam board came from hobbycraft, but a lot of hobby stores carry it.

Re: Nazgob's painting blog - Display Stands
I'm getting to go to the NAFC this year, which is great, but my team is not finished, which isn't. At time of posting, I have 64 days to go, 7 models to paint from scratch, 5 to finish, 1 to retouch and so extras to obtain. Consequently, I'm setting myself a challenge to reach one milestone each week.
Definition of a milestone:
A completed model
Something awesome and creatively satisfying
Anything else I think counts (disagreements are welcome)
I'll blog each week of the challenge, so stay tuned. Here's the first week's effort.
Some close ups of the face and ball are available on nazgobsblog.blogspot.com
The focus of this model is obviously the head. For once, I went for purest black, with only the subtlest highlights. All the hard edges have been taken almost straight to Skull White, and it'll be gloss varnished for that wet look. The pink under-flesh will be left matt, as will the rest of the model.
