Five day WIP - Wood Elves

Post by nonumber »

I decided to take my Wood Elves to Cakebowl but they were definitely lacking in terms of paint job... they were a quick basecoat and wash job with a HEAP of gloss varnish, to the point they felt tacky still even though they were finished months ago.

This is a WIP to see if I can get them finished with Cakebowl only five days away... I have two 2nd ed. catchers in the mail on their way to join the team and with a good wind they'll arrive Thursday - they will both need stripping too!

This is the team after two baths in acetone based nail polish remover and one bath in Dettol, scrubbed with a toothbrush and some dishwashing liquid.

Not exactly a glamour shot just yet... but here we are ready to go.

The 3rd catcher has arrived. He was in need of a Dettol bath... a salute to the previous paint job, it was obviously done with care and attention and I'm sure they looked resplendent when the whole team was on the board!

He's now been stripped and is ready to go.

The fourth catcher has arrived - he won't be making the team for the weekend but here's a shot of him too, just like the first ready for a Dettol bath.

So the base colours are pretty much done, I just need to do the metallic tonight. Then it's wash, highlight and varnish. It's going to be a busy Friday!

The colour scheme I've gone for is grey with yellow for the armour and it's hard to tell on the thrower here but the tabards are red. The catchers will have white gloves to help them stand out.
