New FAQ on stab
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... ater&ifg=1
Cant use Dump-off against a player with stab.
Also, since stab is no longer a block, or you dont need to declare that you are going to throw a block and then change it so a stab with the stab skill. Then per GFI rules, you dont need to GFI to stab a opponent.
So conclusion: Who cares what the rules says, gw decide.
Also fun fact. Gw has ruled that GFI is before Dodge.

Re: New FAQ on stab
chainsaw, ball and chain? These one-off emails are a terrible way of FAQing. Why not just have a single page on the official website? Beggars belief.

I'd wait before throwing toys or other assorted paraphernalia from prams. That post is quite specific it is subject to an official FAQ or errata.

Re: New FAQ on stab
TBH, it seems the new generation of employees responsible for Blood bowl have no clue about how to transport info.
Not everyone has facebook access and not everyone follows them.
Buying the game, two seasons books, several magazines and now even tracking info on the web?
Call me when everything can be found in one place again, untill then, I play Blood Bowl Vintage.

Re: New FAQ on stab
I don't think this is as apocalyptic as people seem to think.
I don't see how this affects the GFI to stab. Stab says it's used instead of a block, which assumes that you'd need to be able to block, which would require the Go For It. Likewise, it doesn't carry over to Ball and Chain, which states that the player throws a block.
It's a perfectly reasonable and literal interpretation of the rules, unless I'm missing something.
Yes, it's a little irritating that GW is making a change to how things have been played in previous editions, but this one isn't a bad call.

It's the manner of the call rather than the actual call itself, I believe.Wifflebat wrote:I don't think this is as apocalyptic as people seem to think.

Re: New FAQ on stab
Sure, and I get that side of it.
I don't play any of the big GW games. Are there any where they interact well with their community? For instance, by having easy communication with creators, or even community managers? It just doesn't seem to be a thing that GW does well--certainly, at least, not with Blood Bowl.
They don't even have forums, do they? That's sort of incredible, for a company with this vast array of games. I can understand how that might go south, what with the... let's call them strong... attitudes of a lot of players towards GW, but it seems like they way they communicate is carefully designed to make Games Workshop appear corporate, removed, and indifferent to even their fans.

I think “multitude” might be a bit optimistic, 17,900 members in the Blood Bowl Community group suggests most people aren’t that fussed about the government harvesting our cat memes.

Aspiring to improve on mid-table mediocrity, over in the SAWBBL.

17.9k vs how many playing? I suspect FUMBBL and Cyanide have a lot more than that, but that's a topic for another day.
Thanks for the post

Re: New FAQ on stab
Dump-Off (Passing):
"This skill allows the player to make a Quick Pass when an
opponent declares that he will throw a block at him, allowing the
player to get rid of the ball before he is hit. Work out the Dump-Off
pass before the opponent makes his block. The normal throwing
rules apply, except that neither team’s turn ends as a result of the
throw, whatever it may be. After the throw is worked out your
opponent completes the block, and then carries on with his turn.
Dump-Off may not be used on the second block from an
opponent with the Frenzy skill or in conjunction with the
Bombardier or Throw Team-Mate skills."
I would say it becomes pretty clear, that if stab is not something you change, when you can block and have to declare it, but you simply stab when you could. Then Stab is not a block (exchange for a block), then it follows from the GFI rules that you dont have to GFI to stab.

There's nothing clear about that at all.Bakunin wrote:I would say it becomes pretty clear, that if stab is not something you change, when you can block and have to declare it, but you simply stab when you could. Stab: "This player may attack an opponent with their stabbing attack instead of throwing a block."
When can you throw a block? During a Block Action or as a part of a Blitz Action. The Blitz Action requires that you have enough movement to throw the block, which includes Going For It if necessary ("The block may be made at any point during the move, and “costs” one square of movement").
Then, if you can block, then you can use Stab instead.
