i have one blitzer with a niggling injury, and no SPP's, should i just retire him for a coach, or keep him on the bench, as i dont want him taking SPP's away from the other players who will be able to attend every game
1) get a RR next
2) fire the Blitzer once you can afford to replace him ...do NOT make him an assistant coach (LRB assistant coaches and cheerleaders are practically useless)
3) Keep practicing and you'll get better (as long as you remember to NOT dodge with longbeards and Slayers)...

Is this the GorTex I wrote the Dwarf tactics article for Coach Blacknife's dugout with, all those years ago?

Even if it's true you don't need assistant coaches or cheerleaders in the LRB i usually keep an assistant coach on all fumbbl-teams. for haflings it's part of the rr-denial-strategy. for other teams it's because of mickey finn. i suppose the jbb-client handles this handicap not like in the lrb (no choice of staff which is not available for the match), so the chances you are out of an apo for the match are smaller.

With all teams especially dwarves it's important to have a slim roster until they reach tr/ts 175. so the mvp is more likely to fall upon a pl who needs it and your bench isn't crowded with players who don't play but keep boosting your tr/ts. You'll play easier opponent-teams with a competent line-up in the open enviroment. 13 pl are enough for dwarves, but you should have a healthy roster with all positionals available. i suggest you get rid of the niggler asap and replace him. don't buy more longbeards until you play bashy teams with lots of mighty blow/claw/rsc. till then thick skull and av 9 should make sure you can field 11 pl every drive.

When you think you have to dodge use your stand-firm players otherwise don't. Try to get doubleskulls article about the art of blocking. It helped me a lot.

Have fun

After 5 seasons with the Dwarves, there are three cardinal sins that I learned when playing them. #1 real Dwarves don't dodge. They stand thier ground and march up the field. #2 Dwarf teams require the most patience to play. With the slowest team speed of any of the teams out there, your team does not have the luxury of making a fast blitz to stop an opposing scorer from a TD unless he made a critical mistake. #3 defence in depth is your best friend. It allows less opening blocks and denyies him to send his whole team thorugh a single gap with a real speedy team like Skaven. Rest assure no matter how you set up you LOS, your opponent will find a way to get a 2D block his advantage on anyone that is on the LOS. That also so includes to whomever he decided to blitz of your players.
The more Dwarves you have standing after his turn of recieveing the ball the better in a defencive posture you will be to react to his plans to move the ball. Time consumption of turns is critical to dwarf play the longer a TD drive lasts, the more you can wear down your opponents team, remove his players from the pitch, consume time, and eventually score at your leaisure.
You can take it for granted that you wont be league-leager when it comes to TDs nor COMPS. But you can easily allow the fewest TDs and wins more than your fair share of games by controlling the ball as much as possible. And by controlling the ball you can efectively do so by surrounding the ball with 4 or 5 tacklezones and not touching it. You will be supprised when your Ball Guards dont have any tackle zones on them and watch your opponents waste team RRs trying to get at the ball and pick up the ball, and get out with it alive. Especially when it is 5 simple Long Beards doing that job.
So i hope I have you a few ideas to proceed upon.
