Use the gutters to dodge around and get assists. At low TR they are actually more survivable than linerats due to dodge. You should then be able to get some 2d blocks, which if successfull will free up linerats to move and assist. The best tactic for beating orcs and the like is the kick skill. It's the one skill that can win a game on its own. Kick deep, and rush through gutters to harry the ball carrier before the cage is formed. Make sure you concentrate on the ball and not blocking though. This will actually help keep players alive. If your opponent is trying to look after the ball, he won't be trying to kill you. The thing with skaven is the advantage to turn any loose ball into a TD. You just have to work hard to sack the ball carrier. (Strip ball is a great skill)

Try working things to spread out the Ogres, then pick on one (preferably a goblin) using your superior mobility. Continue to pick on them.

Once an Ogre team is out of goblins it becomes much harder to achieve victory. Even if it's attrition and you lose 6 for 6 goblins, in IMHO you're up as you run rings around the remaining lumbering St5 ogres.

Having said that, it's never going to be easy - my return to BB 3 years ago was with the experimental Ogre team and they were very scary...

hi Shep!

My first go with ogres was on fumbbl in Brownrobs 1-team-pr.race Premiership. I might have been lucky, but I absolutely creamed my first 3-4 opponents. The combo of st5 MB + 6 stunty ag3 players is really powerfull at tr100-150.

Now, as the tourney has progressed I find games more n more difficult - the lack of general skills seriously kicking in vs. those blodgers.

So IMO as a tr100 skaven team you should expect to get whiped by ogres, though I'd say u have a fair winning chance due to (as always) gutter runners.

cheers

Every time i've played versus or as ogres, the match seems to be decided on the kickoff. A deep kick off to the ogres, and a failed pick up can mean disaster. Once the ogres get the ball though they can really act like a steamroller.

I was in a league with a Khemri team, and I was Skaven. I won the trophy against them in the finals. It was not easy, but I did it. I had a Rat Ogre and he held his own., I just tried to use my lineman to goad the mummies to me, then sent in assists and blocked/blitzed a mummy and take them down. It wont always work, but it worked for me. or just go after he weaker players, and try and let the ogres get the ball.

Blitz is an action.

Hand off is an action.

You cannot have more than one action per player!

Skaven are hard to get right.

I've seen them played badly most of the time. The answer is to use speed, speed and more speed. Linos are expendable, protect the position players, turn your gutters into turn over machines (horns, dauntless, big hand). At the start you need to be careful, but has you them develop (with 4 GR) things are going to get better.

P.S. By Québec do you mean the province or the city? I lived in Québec City for 10 years...

Hey, cool! I live in Sherbrooke, Quebec -- about a four-hour drive south and west of Québec City.

And yes, I'm learning a lot with every game I play with the rats. I'm almost (but not quite) looking forward to our second season game, if I can ever get the chicken before me to play the ogres....

One thing you could do, is utilize your movement advantage. Set your team 6 squares back from the LOS, meaning they need to roll BH and GFI to move into contact with you. On your turn dash GR's behind his line. Sure, Ogres get 3-d blocks/blitz against them, but having just played a game against Amazons (with Ogres and then Chaos), I can safely say even that is often not enough to get them down when you have no Block skill. Your other guys can join in and move in from the flanks once an Ogre or two fail BH rolls. SV can gain some both downs that will cause a TO to your opponent as well.

Side note about Rat Ogres: I try to include one in a skaven starting lineup. Sure WA is unpredictable, but that's part of the fun (or else I wouldn't be caught dead playing an Ogre team  ).

Any game with the skaven with only 11 men, even with an apoth, is never going to look like a win. The team will always have lots of guys out of the game with no defensive skills/low armor. The teams real advantage is you can score down many rats, with a few GR's The game may not feel like a victory but it will be. Your line rats are there to take a pounding, and you need to get that roster built up since you will chew through 14 players a game against the bashy teams. Once you get the threat of a OTS Now a bashy team can no longer sit on the ball the half they recieve since they know you will get one turn and could score.

Rats run low quick so I learned to hold off on Storm Vermin and throwers are a luxury. Lots of lineman and 2 gutter runners plus a rat ogre are a good start for a new team. Unless you have never used a rat ogre before than more linemen are needed.
