The other problem is scoring too fast! A passing play, if successful, allows you to score quicker, in general, than a running play.
And as a dwarf, you generally aren't advised to score quickly!
But with the right tools, it's a great threat. And I would use it if I had it.

I hate dwarfs. They are dreadful to play and even more so to play against. On the other hand, they are IMO without any doubt the best of all the teams in the hands of the right coach. In our little league one of our top-players have coached the team below. The merits and results speaks for it self. The team has newer lost and has won 11 of 13 matches and has caused 34 cas and 4 against. 17 of his touchdowns have been scored by his runner.
The coach used to be a very good chess-player. He excells at calculating probability and at the same time upholds the most importent of dwarven BB virtue - patience and cynicism. He stick to the same strategy in every game, counting and planning for the 8. turn score in both halfs, and preferable to receive in the first half, unless the other team is a slowscoring team, in which case the deathroller start oh the pitch.
The combination of the above has been devasting. The rest os us consider ourselves to de decent coaches, and we have thrown everything against the dwarfves with no luck what so ever. The closest team ever to gain the upperhand was my skaven who on the bring of scoring 2-1 in the middle of the second half failed a GFI.
The development of the team has been straightforward; guard first then MB. MB first on the slayers.
There are ofcause other ways to play dwarfs, but I have newer seen anything as efficient as this team. Luckily for the rest of us, the coach has decided to pull the team out (for a while at least). Despite his selfcontrol and patience even he tired from boredom of the dwarven playstyle. Now he could have changed strategy and tactic, but Im pretty sure it would be to a lesser degree of succes.
My point is, play the team as you want to play it. Figure out wheter you are here to have fun or to WAAC (win at all cost). Im glad my fellow coach in the end decided that the latter can - and should - yield to the first.
I vote for a ban on dwarfs - they have nothing to do in BB, as long as there is too capable coaches
