If you're talking about ratio, you don't need to build a killer team; in fact, if you deal more damage than you take, you'll up your ratio faster by taking less damage (that is, while 30-20 = 25-15, 30/20 is less than 25/15). I like to run just 5x Mighty Blow on my Orcs at peak, but with the boggy build I go for, I hardly take any knockdowns and make a ton of blocks. The last full 20-game season I played with Orcs, they took 11 Cas and scored 73. No, they weren't the per-game Cas leader, because there were killy teams out there, but in terms of differential they were at the top, and in terms of ratio, they were far ahead of everything else.

You got really crappy opponents or you are simply too awesome, if your opponents do 11 cas/20 games with killy teams in the mix. Or your league doesn't allow fouling..

When you're talking about Cas against a top AV9 team, a 20-game sample yields a high MoE.

What fraction of teams take Claw? There are no other happy ways to go head-to-head with a boggy Orc team (assuming the coach has good blocking and caging skills), so everybody else sees all that ST4/AV9/Block/SF and immediately starts thinking about alternatives to trying to punch that wall. In a progression league, early Claw is rare (CDs), expensive in skill terms (Chaos, Nurgle), or accompanied by low AV (UPact, Norse). You talk like you think that just because a team has a quarter of its schedule against M-access teams, they're doomed to take a beating. IME, most such teams view Claw as a toolbox skill, an alternative to Tackle. It would be one thing if a team had six of them, but two or three can be neutralized by winning the positioning battle. Since even that much Claw is hardly common among teams-in-general (most teams can't have any, after all), you only have to be a smarter gamer than a selection of the coaches in your league. IME, killa coaches usually play that way because they need a numerical advantage, and are generally easy prey for minutia games.

Hmmm, I suppose the games I've played in, resistance to CAS (ratio) goes hand in hand with CAS inflicted.

Sure, there are potentially heavy bash teams without a lot of protection (i.e. Norse) but after they've caused a few CAS, they usually seem to wind up losing too many players, and thus, can't maintain the pain train. It's a hellava lot easier to load up on CAS when you're up 3 players on the pitch.

Still, ratios are awesome, but I just love seeing the field cleared of opposing players, except for a couple prone ones, cowering and begging for mercy.

MMmmmmmm, Blood Bowl.

Hey Carnis - looks like you have a fellow traveller - 1 other coach voted for Nurgle. I'd love to hear that coach's views.

I voted chaos though, simply because the mino causes more mayhem than the beast.
