Take the double... use tackle.
There is multiple reasons for it. Better at whacking and stops those dodgers from moving away.

I think I like pro more than tackle due to the reduction in really stupid failures.Smurf wrote:Take the double... use tackle.

I would say that the blitzers would be more suitable to handle the pesky dodgers

Truth
I guess if you are using the troll as the roadblock, you can't go wrong with Blodge + SF
If you are using the troll to hit things instead, you can't go wrong with Pro + Grab

I put Dodge on a blocking mummy in an undead team and have always regreted it. I was counting the number of times it came into use and out of 12 blocks against, 9 of them were pows, only 3/12 the dodge came into effect.
In hindsight I wish I had chosen something different like tackle or pro.
In the case of a troll which has a neg skill, I think pro is the way to go for me for better reliability.

Heeeyyy... I was thinking that Pro/Grab would be suboptimal, because with Block you can Pro a push. But then it occurred to me that it would be great for setting up chains.
By following on the second block, with the 1-tech, and not following on the opening block from the center, you can set up two assists and an opening on your side of the LOS. Then by Pro'ing pows, boths and skulls, and rerolling skulls only on a 3d block, you get...
Stupid: 7/72
Push: 15,055/17,496 (86%)
TRR: 5/2592 (0.2%)
Skull: 365/46,656 (0.8%)
Only half the chance of failure of Ripper (14% instead of 29%), less than half the chance of turnover, and only 1/20 the chance of TRR.
Okay. Pro.

Re: Troll(Orx) with Block and 5+5 What now?
I just faced a Guard/Pro Troll and he was annoying to say the least that he would Pro his block dice if he didn't knock my guys down. So i see Pro as a double bonus. With Dodge you'd just be getting protection from being smacked by Non-tacklers and wouldn't use the actual Dodge action very often...
however, since he has Block, he doesn't need to re-roll his block dice as often (opposing players without Block or not causing a TO by Knocking himself down)
Go further outside the box and take Pass, and get to flinging some Gobs!

Guys i apreciate as always all your comments i read them trough carefully.
First i really liked the Idea of a Troll always on his feet. But then again Pro is to striking and the math as shown will give me that juicy Advantage.
So its Block - Pro. I think

Gotta get a Frenzy Blitzer before you get Grab on that Troll. Then you'll have a wicked avenue for getting 5, 6, maybe even 7 blocks!

Pro is a strong choice. Diving Tackle? That would keep those Elf linemen in your TZ.
But seriously, Dodge>Stand Firm>Break Tackle/Grab would be almost too good to resist.

That's a lot of spp's for a troll. In a long league I'd exploit the double but medium to short I'd rather have reliability.B SIDE wrote:Pro is a strong choice. Diving Tackle? That would keep those Elf linemen in your TZ.

Re: Troll(Orx) with Block and 5+5 What now?
So in a Match where the Troll is Babysitted it would reduce RS from 2 almost 3 RS events to 1.5?
And in a eternal League you would go for dodge instead for Pro?
Cause it is one. Once the 18 Matches are over my Team qualifys for a new League with 18 Matches and so on and so on.

Re: Troll(Orx) with Block and 5+5 What now?
But dont think your just gonna use pro on RS rolls. With block you can reroll push results 50/50. You would get so much more value out of the troll with Block/Pro. Hes not just gonna roadblock hes gonna take players out. That will get him SPP's more than dodge will. With the Orcs and guard access give some consideration to Multiblock. Lots of skills for him to get with all the SPP's that Block/Pro is gonna provide
