I agree +1 ag now, then leap then block and he is a proper menace on both offense and defence

Take the AG, no question as it its immense value (even with NoS - this means he can pick up the ball in multiple TZ and throw a short pass out on a 2+)

Next I'd take Block just to keep him alive. Then a toss up between leap and sure hands. After those sidestep. Doesn't leave any room for pass block even if he lives that long :)

OK, I will take the +1 AG. But no Pass Block. I once had a Wood Elf Lineman with AG 5 and Pass Block and in 20 games he never got to use the skill. However I did once play against a guy that had all four of his Gutter Runners with Pass Block. Now that was a pain. But I still beat him.

Did he have catch on the GRs?

You said they were a pain... Goes to show how annoying PB is. Hence IMO AG5 PBer is really annoying. Ever wondered why your previous PBer never used its skill? Maybe coaches were to frightened to pass near it?

I just counted up my throwing abilities over 20 games. I've counted close to 70 passes and 63 TDs.

Pass Block shines when you have two. If you can lock down teams pass option, then they will be predictble. Predictable teams are easier to defend against. Some skill are worth taking because thaey manipulate the opponent to play differently, so the skill is used even if it is not activated.

Not sure I could say pb shines. Perhaps more viable. Safe throw counters pb and is skill useful even when there is no pb.

That's why WE have Wardancers... take the Safe Thrower out!

I regulary try and target my opponent's Thrower it's how WE can control the pace of the game.

It's a style of play.

Viable strategy since throwers rarely have block dodge. Vs WE I rarely try and beat them on the passing game. Well not until I've removed half the team from the pitch.

Yup, the point is that if I can lock down an entire aspect of the game with 2 skills, I'll take them. Tackle is a waste of TV if there is no Dodge, I still want two players with it on the roster :-)

Pass block is awful, I can't imagine a circumstance where I would ever want to take the skill, it's that bad.

Well in the games we play it has it's uses.

One guy I was playing thinking that if I hit the Catcher there is a high chance it would be pushed back towards the receiver. So he decided not to. After all IIRC he had two dice with 6 options of being a push back. I'm not sure if he had block on the player but block and skull help form the equation... roughly put a 1/3 chance of success with every thing else being not so good.

For whatever reason he chose not to hit the Pass blocker... time is getting close if he wants to equalise, so he has to get the ball to a blitzer and make off with it. Announces pass, pass blocker moves and intercepts!

No if he had hit the catcher he would be shoved into a TZ of the receiver turning a 3+ catch into a 4+catch and requiring a 3+ dodge to get away. Note the catcher could have move around the player to try and intercept too.

Time was ticking and he failed to equalise.

Last year with the same teams, I passblocked a long bomb to prevent him from scoring.

I think my team has 5 interceptions to its name thanks to passblockers.

They form part of your defence and you need to position them carefully.

Otherwise, yeah, forget them because they are no good.
