The funny thing is I play BB by the seat of my pants, always altering my strategy for the current turn and sometimes for the next. My only long term goals are to hurt as many opposing players as possible and to score a TD (sometimes that's secondary). It's not that I want to hurt the other team, it's just that I find the game much easier when you are up a player or two. :D

Counting your opponents fingers, bluffing, double bluffing, and mind games are too much for me; I'd rather just drink my beer. Then again, PBeM is very different from tabletop and my tabletop opponents usually beat themselves by getting so mad at the dice that they forget to play well.

A kind of double bluff!

Dave
That's a great idea! I might try doing that sometime and see if it works!

Yes, I agree. The very few times that I have been a couple of players up, I have often won. Usually I find myself players down though.

Getting a man advantage can be huge if you place them correctly. It doesn't do you mcuh good if they're on the wrong side of the pitch, though. It is also much more difficult to get in the LRB than it was in 3rd edition.

If so, what would be the best player (including skills) in each location? I guess either a blitzer or a witch elf would be the player at the back (the "deep safety"??).

Martyn
Well, it depends on opponent types in both cases, but in general my dark elves actually go 3-6-2 instead of 3-7-1

3 line elves, throwaways at first but then blk/sstep/dge when i get developed, blitzers on each wide zone 2 spaces off, line elves flanking the innermost one on each side (with guard if I have em), and then witch elves 2 squares behind them, to act as safety valves...blitzing anyone who gets by. Doesn't work NEARLY as well as it used to now that frenzy has been weakened, but it's still pretty effective. My dark elves give up an average of less than 1td a game, so I must be doing ok. :)
