It isn't a waste. The gutter do it better than the thrower, thanks to his AG 4 for dodging a fleeing matters... that cannot be compared with the pass ability of the Thrower
Ball cuddling duties aren't a secondary and less important part in the match... it's pheraps one of the most important things out there, and the gutter do it better

So we can see that leilond uses his GR's as constant scoring threats and does this successfully.

Fair play to him.

Most of the rest of us would try to be more flexible in our approach, using their greater MA and AG to help team goals more (only one of which is scoring)

I am generalising I know

Are we even on point anymore?

Oh well... I've got around 47% win, 12% tie, 41% lose... thus I do not do it really succesfully

More flexible? A gutter with the ball in hands is more flexible than any thrower. Using a thrower to handle the ball is LESS flexible than using a gutter. The Thrower pass a bit better, but all other duties that must be done by a ball handler is done better by a gutter

But all this talking about the skaven thrower teach me that I've to try it again a bit... I will give him some other out-league try ;)

By More Flexible I think I am implying that we do not lock GR's into ball handling roles.

In comparison I hope for my Elf catchers to get a double so that I can give them Guard and make them mobile assists.

they could score and do it well and with ease. but to spread the Spp's around I try, and I think I am not alone, to not tag any 1-3 players as those likely to score.

Play to your strengths. A 59% non lose ratio is very good.

Whether you choose to have a thrower or not, Sure Hands on a Gutter Runner is a waste of a skill.

IMO.

Why do you consider it a "lock" when is the most effective way to handle the ball? I cannot undestand it. I think it isn't a "locked gutter" but a well emploied one

By the way... I think I've clarified my idea too much, I think I'm going to make all you tired ;)

I'd say this is one of the best arguments in this thread.

I'll claim that having a Sure Hands player is good. First of all, it protects against Strip Ball (for Skaven this is mitigated by speed, but its still good). Second, Sure Hands + Pass is invaluable late in a half when all the rerolls have been spent in a nail-and-tooth defence (or wasted on stupid blocks). In those cases 1/9 is great odds over 1/6 on even picking up the ball.

The above argument is complimented by the fact that there are much better choices than Sure Hands for a Gutter Runner. Gutter Runners excel in offence by nature due to speed and AG4, so their skill choices should be defence-oriented skills (or multi-purpose, such as Block). You could in theory take Sure Hands on a linerat, but only after Kick, Wrestle, Block, Fend, Dirty Player, Dauntless, Guard, Mighty Blow, Claw, Tentacles etc.

To finish off, throwers on a Skaven team are, despite everything, just glorified linerats and no one should ever apo them.

Just one more point. On defence the throwers usually are just expensive linerats and that's the real crux of a succesful Skaven team, as offence generally is quite easy.

This is a very universal truth! How many line rats were crushed like meat-shields to preserve "more vauable" players

If I am right to conclude on the discussion of the most optimal tactic against the mentioned Amazon team, I should be working on staying out of direct blocking range of the Amazon team as much as possible, while stalling when I'm near my opponent's endzone? (At least, until I suffer too much casualties through doing so).

... And in response to the Thrower vs. Gutter runner discussion for passing games, I rather have as much Gutter Runners forward and going for a touchdown (thus levelling quicker) as quickly as possible within a league, as with just passing, they will always remain to be a weakness, compared to a Thrower. (Strength 3 is DEFINITELY a big difference).
