It's viable. I did it the other day against dwarfs. Key points: I was winning 3-0 at the time, had a couple of re-rolls and turns left, and if I'd dropped the handoff, I probably could've recovered next turn. My BOBs suffer from a similar inability to break armour or cause injuries

The other thing is if you get a touch back and have 8 turns to give the ball to a BOB who will skill up with the TD.

So far so good, had my first game against Lizzies last month, won 1-0 and collected 14 spp (one BOB had two CAS'es so not to far away from a skill up :D ). My next opponent will be playing Undead and I am a bit worried about the match. I already played a friendly game against him, it was a bloody brawl and ended as a draw. I really want to win the match (as I want to win the league :smoking: ) so any tactical input is appriciated. What is already obvious to me:

- Kill the ghouls (as they are the main ball handlers) or at least don't let them get the ball/run through the lines to score
- Same for the wights, but be more careful as they have block
- Don't get tied up with the mummies, maybe try to completely avoid them as they can't follow
- Don't let him build a cage/ get in position to quickly score with a ball-handling ghoul/wight

He surely goes for the long grind to score in turn 8, but so do I.

Should I kick or recieve first half? (I think normally kicking is better to play the standard 2-1 grind, but maybe a different aproach should be taken here?)

Any other tactics I need to know to beat him?

If he has Skels, go after them mercilessly with the Troll and any Blitzers who aren't tied up marking Ghouls. Otherwise, go for the Ghouls and Wights with everything you've got in the first half, so as to gain control of the game. Try to mark any non-Block (non-Wrestle) Ghouls with Blitzers, and to hit Wights with BOBs and the Troll as much as possible.

Just won the match 1-0, it was quit a bashfest. One of my Blitzers rolled an eleven at his first skill roll, should I go +AG or Dodge?

Edit: My fault, as I can't take dodge, I will go +AG.

Awesome. A defensive Thrower and an AG4 Blitzer together let you show flashes of Elfiness. Any stat increase on a Blitzer rocks: in terms of bang-for-buck, +MA is probably the best, but you'd never see me turn any 10+ down for a skill on that guy, double or no. BOBs are a different story....

And if it were possible to roll an 11 on a double, it wouldn't change anything for anybody. Depending on the player, 11 is generally a no-brainer: either it's useful on the player, in which case it's probably better than any skill you could take, or it's not useful, in which case you're probably better off taking the next skill on the progression. There's a little middle ground, like AG5 players who roll 11 and players who really scream for a key skill they don't start with, especially in a shorter season. But otherwise, +AG is either better than any double, or not as good as a normal skill.

Had another game today against an orc team with a good coach. It was quite bashy again, although both our dice were cold at times in terms of making casualties (although I killed one of his guys). In the end I won with a 2-1 grind.

Now my questions:

The next teams I will face before play-offs are humans and skaven, so I succesfully defeated the bashers in my division but more agile teams are to come, keep that in mind for your advice.

1. Two BOB's skilled up, one rolled a double. I want to go with block for both, is there any skill really worth considering on the double instead of block? Tackle or stand firm come to my mind, but tackle is useless on only one player and stand firm is not as useful as block in the beginning.

2. One Thrower skilled up, I am drawn between kick and accurate. As I have two throwers I can cover my backfield quite well, like to throw some passes and accurate would be handy for that. But kick obviously is great, too. Suggestions?

3. I have 130k right now and consider buying a troll. The problem is that many teams in the league don't do that well (nearly all coaches are begginers and don't play so well) and still have a rating around 1,1 million. Mine would skyrocket to 1,31 with the troll, so I fear the inducements for my opponents (wizard and starplayers are banned in our league, although). I really like to test the troll, but giving away up to 200k on inducements doesn't look good. If not a troll, is there anything else you guys would buy?

Block on the Black Orcs. Doubles just aren't worth looking at until they have Block and Guard, and Stand Firm or Mighty Blow are probably better 3rd and 4th skills for them anway.

AG4 on a Blitzer is godlike. Cherish him!

Save your money until you know you're playing a bash team next. The Troll won't be very useful against Humans or Elves (unless you know the humans have an Ogre, in which case...it might be worthwhile).

And yeah, Accurate on your Thrower. Give Kick to the first Line Orc who skills up, or give it as a 2nd skill to your Thrower.

Kick off return is a nice skill too for a thrower, but for now I'd also go with accurate.
Dont know how many rerolls you got, maybe leader is a good choice ?

And if you want kick, get it on a lineorc.

I don't have a lineorc. So far the team is

4 Blitzers (one +AG, one Guard)
4 BOB's
2 Throwers
1 Gobbo

I will save the money (unless someone really has a point in taking the Troll) to not bloat my TV, give the two BOB's block and the Thrower Accurate.

I like one thrower accurate then kick off return. Accurate means you can set yourself up for quick passes to get to the 2nd skill. KoR is a great skill on slow throwers. Doubles would be strong arm.

The other develops more as runner - block, fend with dodge on doubles.

A Troll is a truly astounding noseman. Put the Block BOBs around him, and give him Guard as a first skill, and any opponent with any speed just can't play to the middle at all. this lets you force all of the action to the sidelines, forcing your opponent's strategy. If there are no Wizards and Stars, the Troll is totally worth the 60k TV you add for taking him over a lino.

Just had my fourth match in the league, defeated humans 2-0. Bought the troll before and already like him a lot, although he didn't do much, but his presence (together with the BoBs) is already enough.

I've got a new question for you guys: On of my throwers skilled up (the other already got accurate as first skill) and I am not sure what to take. I am drawn between Kick, Leader and Block.

Kick is a great defensive skill, but won't help much against my next opponent (skaven).

Leader is a cheap reroll, but I can live with the three I have.

Everybody knows block.

What would you take?

Also, I think I will buy a Lino, with him I would have 13 players and that should be more than enough. I want to give him wrestle to sack problem-players. Would you stay with 12 players to not bloat the TV or advice player 13?
