The reason I've picked Guard every chance I've had is that most teams I've met this season is bashing teams and guard gives me some chance to defend myself from being mangled and sooner or later my Guard-players will start dying from me!

I know that my offense is excellent. This season my team has played 6 matches of which 5 were against teams that have played one or two more seasons than my team, and I have scored 20 TDs so far, but as you correctly said I need a can-opener to sack the opponent's ball carrier.

You need at least 2 tacklers to upset DE and LM.

I played lycos's LM a couple of years back with 2 tacklers and I could hit 1 and pin 2 skinks. Generally speaking he could not do anything with the ball. But that was a tournament.

We just finished our playoff and I lost the final against a more developed Dark Elf team after a stupid misstake by me that probably cost me the game but since we play in a continuing league I hope to beat him and everyone else next season. Since the league's three greatest bashing teams are retiring things are changing and I'm suddenly the 2nd highest valued team after the Dark Elf-team that beat me and most of the probably contenders next season are agility and/or fast teams: Dark Elf*2, Wood Elf, Slann, Skaven and Lizardmen. My team know looks like this and I know a couple of my skill selections are unorthodox (for example only having two Dodge-players but since my opponent's last season was thick on Tackle I choose other skills to defend myself) and I also feel that I've been blessed/curse with to many AG+ rolls. One catcher with AG5 was fired after having a -ST injury but still I have 4 AG5-players that are great but those players lack some of the necessary skills. My offense is amazing and I was the season's top scorer with TD's spread throughout the entire team so my main focus the coming season will be to improve my defense. How do I improve my defense against a variety of teams? Sidestep, Diving Tackle, more Blodge or something else? Since the SPP's has a good spread around the team I hope every player on the team that survives next season will get at least one skill upgrade during the season. So what would you take on a normal roll and a double?

My team:
1 High Elf Catcher 8 3 5 7 Catch, Guard, +AG 16spp
3 High Elf Thrower 6 3 5 8 Pass, Safe Throw, +AG, Accurate, Sure Hands 43spp
4 High Elf Blitzer 7 3 4 8 Block, Dodge, Guard 26 spp
5 High Elf Blitzer 7 3 5 8 Block, Dodge, Tackle, +AG 43 spp
6 High Elf Lineman 6 3 4 8 Block, Guard 17spp
7 High Elf Lineman 6 3 4 8 Guard, Block 26spp
8 High Elf Lineman 6 4 5 8 +AG, +ST, Block 49 spp
9 High Elf Lineman 6 3 4 8 Wrestle 9 spp
10 High Elf Lineman 6 3 4 8 Kick, Block 18 spp
11 High Elf Lineman 6 3 4 8 0 spp
12 High Elf Catcher 8 3 4 7 Catch, Wrestle, Guard, Mighty Blow 44 spp
13 High Elf Catcher 8 3 4 7 Catch, Pass block 8 spp
14 High Elf Thrower 6 3 4 8 Pass, Safe Throw, Leader 12 spp

Time to start Dodging up. Guard or ignore on doubles.

High Elf inducements

One thing absent for an elf team is a leap piece (or two) and with all that ag5 there are options.

A leaping tackler, or wrestle tackler would be useful to give you a threat vs the ball carrier.

I had a AG5 Leap Catcher but I had to fire him after his -ST but I plan to get another one to use both on offense and defence...

If you have a block/tackle player roll doubles then MB would be a good choice. A lot of agile teams won't give you many hits a turn so you may as well make them count.

Dodge is certainly a worthwhile option if your opponents are tackle light now. SS is always nice, but both tackle and DT won't be much use if you are still facing bashers. If your must win games are going to be against these kind of teams then it is worthwhile.
