I voted for cards Draco...

My ideal would be:

New set of cool cards + the old ones (more more more!)

But considering GW are NEVER going to reprint them (GW has gone away from cards and templates for economic reasons, plus they are always getting lost) I would like a better handicap table....

.... but the table would never replace the cards in my heart... (or league :D)

That would be nice but we know GW. Not a chance. I hope the handicap table is made better, though. Surprising elements are fun :)

If they don't want to issue them, we can always make them ourselves! Lets try and help Roy find the cards in pdf format he's looking for.
Furthermore, Galak has cards on his website. Make a nice design and use them! (If everybody in your league accepts that, that is, I mean it's still a democracy!) :smoking:

I'm a keep the cards voter - though I do admit some of them can be a bit excessive. Then again if you're taking on a team much bigger than you you're going to need excessive.

The main argument here against them seems to be that they spoil the pure strategy of bloodbowl.
It's a bit of a silly argument - it doesn't matter how good you are tactically at the game, you still lose if you can't pick up the ball or block effectively.
The whole game is based around chance - yes we do the best to limit the effect that the dice will have (well I do anyway, I hate the spotty little bleeders) - and yes skill does mostly show through - but at the end of the day we're at their mercy.

The cards are just an extension of this randomness.
They have cost me games and they have won me games but they very rarely fail to enliven games.

And something to consider for cool hand fluke:
The greased shoes did make a difference - but I think you're forgetting the blitz I got, that made a serious impact as to how it played out for the first half.
At the end of the day though it was only one player - yes your best player - but would it have gone any different if I'd knocked him down and fouled him off in the first turn?
You get your shot at vengeance soon though - I've drawn you for the semifinals.

John.

I've given this some thought and on reflection, i'll go for the cards afterall. The more mayhem the better. I guess it's what BB is about.

And John - if you'd have fouled him i had a card that would have cost you a turnover (if only i could remember to play it  ) So, i'll be booking my place in the final then, maybe. 8)

i'm firmly in the no cards camp, but voted something else as i dont think the handicap table offers the best solution. It would i think if the resulkts are updated.

The cards could work, if and only if there are so balanced in effects that no game breaking result occurs from them and so that they could only be played in your own turn, not the opponents.

I think McDeth plays in a league that does just that ...

A league I really need to get the next round out the door for.

I like the idea that the cards can be played in your opponents turn - its adds to the excitement...

Its annoying and can have a drastic effect on the game, but its the kind of mayhem that I would expect from Blood Bowl

And we played for MANY seasons with cards (er, all of them actually!) and the best players still won, usually ;)

Don't get me wrong - Cards are for LEAGUE PLAY only... Much like deaths!
(I mean you don't want to pay £££ to go to an event and get pit trap and burst ball against you in the first game....)
