Phil, have you thought about posting in the mini section for feedback/ demand on new figs.
Just a simple poll, "Would you buy a (fill in the race) Blood Bowl team?" Yes/No. Maybe then you could get an accurate gauge of demand.
I don't think listing all the possible teams on one post would give you a good gauge, since you can only vote on one team, although there may be several you're interested in.
And I like the idea of a necro halfling team; flesh golems, skeletons, zombies and mummies. One of each would be cool.

tom used to have a whole web page for that sort of thing... ultimately, the reason i don't do it is because i have a list of projects _i_ want to do and i'm working on the things that are on that list... if you all happen to want them too, well, that's good for me, ain't it... if you want something i don't have on my list, well, i can'tread your mind... if somebody wants to take up where tom left off and organize the demographic polling, it would certainly be able to influence what i do... though i will never again be foolish enouhg to use such data as a judge of expectable sales...

Think about dead halflings. Small lumps of meat with but a shadow of their former agility left...phil wrote:yeah, but it just doesn't "feel" right without it... little guys should just have a habbit of getting out of the way...
Pathetic opponents in every respect except that they are hard to take out. Sure they fall down easy but they keep getting up and yelling with an inhalflingane(heh) voice: "braainnsssooup, braainnnss-onn-aaa-stiick, braaainsandwichessss"...
And the increased AV and no dodge would be a really good twist - at least it would be a different kind of a stunty team.

i can see that... but you'll have to find something more than simple regeneration to compensate them with... as it is, you're looking at a team which doesnt' have the only thing halflings did have going for it, the throw teammate game (the 2 agility makes this not even worth trying except in desperation)... they'll need to find a schtick to make them attractive, or else they're just an even worse halfling team... and even tom probably wouldn't want to play an even worse halfling team...Mestari wrote:And the increased AV and no dodge would be a really good twist - at least it would be a different kind of a stunty team.

How about giving some (all?) of em Stand Firm? That means they can atleast _attempt_ the dodge without turnovers, will probably still fail half of em, and they'd be annoying as heck on defense, even with ST2. And frankly... that's how I see halfers.. annoying as heck, and now that they're dead, they're coming back for more!

An idea:
Remove Agility access. Allow general access.
so it would be something like:
0-16 Zomblings 4/2/2/7 Dodge, Stunty, Regeneration (G) 30k
0-2 Mummlings 3/3/1/8 Mighty Blow, Dodge, Stunty, Regeneration (G,ST) 50k
Big Guy:
0-2 Compost heap 3/5/1/9 Mighty Blow, Bonehead, Foul appearance, Regenerate (G,ST) 90k
Normal Halflings: the dodgy ones
Chaos halflings: the mutant ones
Deadlings : the punchy clumpy ones

I like the general skill access idea and the stand firm idea. This would translate into a team of:
AV8?!?!?! I know it sounds extreme, but only that way they could be able to take more hits than goblins.
Stand firm really makes them funny - carefree 4+ dodging everywhere! And the refusal to be pushed around is nice to.
General access is also a nice twist, that should allow them to develop with those lucky MVP's!
Would this team have enough things going for them to make them worthwhile, Phil?
Code: Select all

stand firm is definitely different... i like the way they still get to be halfling-ish by dodging at will, even if they're not good at it... (though the argument ould be made that they're better at it since they don'e get turnovers....)
my thought is to drop the move to 4 (they're dead afterall) and then playtest them a bit...

With JJ's cost calculator (the one on www.midgardbb.com) the skeletals come out at 0k, the zomblings at 10k, the mummlings at -10k(!) and dead wood at 70k. So I think the prices are fine.
This does look like a fun team, and doomed to lose 99% of their games

Gorbad: Regular halflings price out at 0k, and Goblins price around 20k. I'm getting a cost of 20k for the Zomblings, and that fits in what I expected from the skills. I have to think that dropping Dodge and a point of agility for Stand Firm, Regenerate, AV of 8 and General skills is a damned good trade.
