Skill advice for Storm Vermin

Post by Dargeshaad »

Hi I just got my second skill (normal skill roll) for one of my Storm Vermins, he got 7 4 4 9 Block (due to a special helmet +1str +1AV i won from a tournament), the +1 AG was my first skill roll.
Most of my players are rather well developed with a TR of 210. The tournament I'm playing in has these teams: Orc/Necromancer/Wood Elf/High Elf/Lizard/Chaos.
I'm a bit split between Strip Ball/Tackle/Guard/Mighty Blow

Guard

Break Tackle 8)

Gaurd is good, his high armor and strength mean he will be a pain to push out of a ruck and the ag4 means he will get to were you need assists.

Tackle is an optiopn as you can then have him sit deep and use him as a safety, as the strength 4 means you should get a 2d block and tackle should help you nail the catchers/runners.

I should probably mention that i already have 1 SV with Guard and I furthermore have a gitty Gutter Runner with block, dodge, tackle, strip ball, dauntless. Additionally my Rat Ogre only need 4 SPP for his 4th roll, which will 100% be Guard unless he rolls doubles. (He got Block, MB, Piling On, Multiple Block so I usually put him on the LoS or else he wont see any action with the new WA rules).
But I must say I'm probably most for one more Guard, considering most of my league are basher teams.

You know what? There's no wrong choice between those 4. You're facing a fairly balanced mix of teams (a *bit* more bash than flash), so no one strategy is paramount or necessary. Take the skill that seems most fun for you or (even better) whichever shows up least on your roster.

In fact, that's my advice - take the skill that you currently have the fewest times.

With a strenght of 4 and AG 4, this guy is a blitzing machine. (can even dodge for the blitz when needed)
Really, tackle is the best choice in my opinion.

I'd probably take Guard, the higher Av & ST make him ideal for getting hit. Tackle wont let you down either.

You can't have enough Guard on a team.

Tackle or strip ball can be easily took by the other storm or another player.

Guard would be my style of play, but tackle isn't bad either, wouldn't do the other two.

In that case, Guard would appear to be the obvious choice too, followed by Tackle (if the league contains a significant number of players with Dodge).
Mighty Blow would be my 3rd choice, unless your league contains almost no players with Dodge at all. In that case I might consider it as second choice.
Strip Ball might be rather useless if your opponents have ball carriers with Sure Hands (highly likely if your opponents have similarily developed teams),
