Bloodbowl 05 Vampire Team

Post by Emberbreeze »

given the latest update on what you can take to the Bloodbowl, I was wondering what people thought of a vampire team with Count Luthor

Count Luthor 380k
9 thralls 360k
1 vampire 110k
2 rerolls 140k
FF 1 10k

Total 1,000k

never played with a star player, but ST5 AG4 Block Dodge seems amazing, and alot more reliable than a couple of vampires. It is putting all your eggs in one basket, but with ST5 AV9 he should survive most blocks and I have to hope I don't give up any easy fouls, when he does go down (which wont be often!)

anyone want to give me a game on PBeM V's this team? with a couple of skills added (mid tournament)

Wouldn't he be more effective on an undead team? Since the new Star Player prices came out, I've been thinking that this lineup would be very tough to beat:

Count Luthor 380k
11 zombies 330k
1 ghoul 70k
3 rerolls 210k
FF 1 10k

IMHO Star Players shouldn't be allowed in tourneys. Those high strength blodge ballcarriers are simply too good.

Edit: Just to point out, 13 players is great for Dirty Players. The ghoul is there mostly to follow the Count when he blitzes out from the zombie cage and need some TZs for protection.

but at least the thralls can keep up with Luthors amaingly high speed of 6 :)

and a Vampire is a better alternative blitzer than a ghoul. the extra players on the undead team might not be that useful.

plus, if an undead team faced anyone else with Luthor they can't use him! but a vampire team can :D

I'd agree for the most part, but I doubt this team has the ability to win the bloodbowl and so it adds a bit of variation :)

With the way your Vamps rolled Bloodthrist, just take 4 normal ones. ;)

it is the block/dodge I really want, not the +1 ST and no bloodlust

if you'd care to create such a star player I'd happily pay the reduced cost :D

Wouldn't your team be very vulnerable to strip ball? I know that's the first skill I'd take on any team in a tourney with star players allowed.
tbh I think you're better off without stars (besides stunty teams of course).

The only players I ever see with strip ball are storm vermin and war dancers. I would be vunerable yes, but I also have a second vampire who could be given safe hands, and I always plan on giving a thrall safe hands for the post kick off pick-up

Count Luthor is broken but with the high costs I would think twice before I would add him to my tourney team.

With three or four vampires the team could be more effective.
Maybe you should try both setups out during a practice game. And then you could make the decission if he's worth for the tourney.

I've already played with Vamps in a tournament, and at TR100 they are very difficult to play. at TR110 they are a bit better.

So I'm giving the count a try-out atm and we shall see how he does :)

the count is everything. go back 10years and he was a team by himself. Hyp gaze is a bit poorer now but the same idea works. = give ball to st5 blodge player> make a loose screen> run until you get stuck> hyp gaze and dodge out to score.

I did work out the same team and i would consider it an option but at 100 you dont have much else in the team. Massive high risk for him, but i would doubt such a singualr strategy would work against decent players. Plus the fig sucks - so no its not a good idea ;)

I wouldn't use count luthor model, I'd use the vampire lord :)

So far he has single handly stopped a dwarf drive and caused a casualty on a Krox (both on defence). I am starting my 1st drive on offence now.

I'm actually thinking of not giving the count the ball unless I have to, 1st skill will be sure hands on a thrall, who will get the ball from the back field, then the vamp and the count run blocking and the thrall will hand off to to run in the score.

Maybe Dirty Player 1st? Just to foul him when he does go down...

I'd be more worried by a 'fling or gobbo team than a Vampire one in that environment. TBH I reckon Vamps are pretty much at the same level as flings & gobbos.

That would definately be my second skill. But knowing that you'll likely meet the likes of Luthor, Griff or Jordell strip ball still seems like the best choice.

We haven't got far yet (my fault - only one turn yesterday) but it's not looking good for the Orcs. Opening KO, and it's the new (broken) Get the Ref. Ember choose DP for one of the Thralls, I choose Tackle and MB for 2 Blitzers.

Not going to be pretty, and (I'd imagine) will turn into a foul-fest. I really hope the BBRC change this KO result, and DP, in the next RR (if not before).

I know GTR isn't really a good KO result when you are trying to practice, it completely changes the half. Not that I wouldn't make full use of it in a tournament, but I expect I'll only do a couple of tatical fouls this time
