Second Doubles for Dwarf Runner
I already have Dodge. What do you feel is the best choice for second doubles roll?
I was fortunate and have 3 skill ups from the last match:
Runner A: Doubles (he already has dodge)
Runner B: not doubles (he already has block)
LongBeard: Doubles (his first skill)
Any advice for this rookie coach would be greatly appreciated.

Just take a look at:
viewtopic.php?t=16217
There is an discussion about a simurlar problem (runner A).
Skills for the Long Beard: Stand firm is a good choice you might take leader as well. But this depends on your team. So it would be easier with further information.
Runner B: Tackle, Strip ball for a defence runner maybe kick.

Thank you for the advice.
From the link you posted there are many suggestions, but Leap and side step seem to win the vote.
I'm interested in Leap. It sounds kind of exciting, but I have never played with a player with that skill before. Is it used often? Is it difficult to use? Pros and cons of leap? I'm sure there are countless posts on it somewhere, but I thought I would reply here as it is the context of my Dwarf Runner.

mmm
definitely not leap
you may not have notice, but on the other thread, the runner was AG4, and that makes all the difference. With AG3, leaping would be a 4+, which is not reliable at all. It is like dodging with a LB
In your case, sidestep seems to me to be a much better choice
to answer about leap, it is very useful on an AG4, and awesome on AG5
usually, you use it not that often, but in two main cases:
-cage breaking: you cancel the assists and jump inside the cage to get the ball out
-on offence, to jump over the defence, and nothing can be done to stop you
either way, when you do it, it is a moment when it shouldn't fails, so a 3+ is a minimum
leap is very oftenly used by WE, and by other elves too, and gutter runners. Other players with+AG have leap, but much less common.
the pros of leap: always the same difficulty to achieve, nothing can stop you, people tend to be a little less confident when your leaper is around
cons: often fails
, and if you fail, one of your best players is prone in the middle of a cage... the dirty player isn't too far away probably.
you also tend to do leaps too much when you have it but maybe that is just me

Also, just as an extra suggestion, you might want to consider Sidestep on the longbeard as well.
For players with Strength access and either AG3 or St 4+ (future Break Tackle material- Sauri and BCs), I'll generally take Stand Firm for a) the annoying skill and b) the free dodging capability. For longbeards and CDs, I consider Sidestep and Stand Firm to be pretty much even.
Sometimes you just have to try that longbeard dodge to stop a TD, but as a rule of thumb, the two skills will get pretty much equal usage and I think that sidestep is frequently a lot more useful (except for the bonus dodging ability).
Just a thought. You won't go wrong either way.
