12 players on the pitch
how do you deal with it. turned up yesterday (never seen it happen before)
i'm told that there's a convention that the offending coach has to immediatly remove 1 player of the other's choosing. is this correct. thanks

Just solve it between gentlemen.darren woodward wrote:how do you deal with it. turned up yesterday (never seen it happen before)

If it's an honest mistake, I allow the opponent to just remove a player of his choice. Sometimes we roll a random player if he feels really guilty.
If someone consistently makes this 'mistake', I remove the coach.

That's how we've always played it - it means "forgetting" isn't rewardeddarren woodward wrote:i'm told that there's a convention that the offending coach has to immediatly remove 1 player of the other's choosing. is this correct. thanks

I can see sometimes not noticing that you've set up 12, but it's an almost subconscious check (by BOTH players really) that at least one of you should catch the 3 in a wide zone error before the kickoff is worked out, and simply correct it then with no penalty.magokiron wrote:We usually call a IP for the ofending player, and you choose wich model he has to remove.
Same applies if s/he ever puts 3 players in a widezone.

I know many Europeans don't see much NFL, but you watch when there is a kick off (or kick return.) There is always the 1 guy way in the back counting how many team mates he has on the field with him...
The same thing applies to bloodbowl to me.
If I'm taking the kick, I count my opponent's kicking formation to see if he has 11 or not (and that the LOS and flanks are legal). Then I set up. And I count my guys (again, 11 and LOS and flanks) before announcing I'm ready for the ball to be placed...
When I kick, I set up and then count my men (all parts). After my opponent sets up I count his men to see if he has 11 or not (yup). Then I place the ball.
It was pretty old hat in the league I was in. We just got into the habit.
The feeling is that it is both coaches responsibility to ensure Nuffle's sacred 11 was upheld. To that end, if a 12 man or another illegal set up had gotten past both coaches.. we always took off a random pitch. Neither coach got rewarded by choosing which player.
Both were at fault and had ample time and chances to catch it.
