Chaos Warrior 4th skill choice...

Post by fen »

Ok so here's the team as it stands.

Chaos Warrior - +ST, Blodge, Normal Skill
Chaos Warrior - Block, Guard, Mighty Blow, Claw
Chaos Warrior - Block, Jump Up
Chaos Warrior - Block, +ST
Beastman - +ST, -AG, Block
Beastman - +ST, Block, -AV
Beastman - +ST, Jump Up
Beastman - Block, Guard
Beastman - Block, Guard
Beastman - Diving Tackle
Beastman - Block, -MA
Beastman - Kick, +AV
2 Beastman - No Skills
Minotaur - Block

Ok so it's the 1st Chaos Warrior that I'm not sure what to do with. I'm in the Semi-Finals of the Chaos Cup and I have a Nurgle or Dark Elf Side to face (probably Nurgle) then (if I make it) either a Wood Elf or High Elf team.

Thoughts? I'm also open to any suggestions on where I should develop the other players and what I'm missing (apart from Tackle.)

Perhaps Sure Hands? He'll be really good at holding the ball tight while the rest of your team pounds the opposition. Personally I really like the high-ST Blodge ballcarrier.

You can never have enough Mighty Blow (or is that Mighty Dog... Mighty Mouse?)

Which rules do you use? Under LRB 4 I would vote for sure hands as well.

Under LRB 5.0 I'd go with sure hands as well.

I assume that is what this is since as Snew mentioned you have jump up.

A good option as well, makes him very mobile.
Sure hands would still be best to make him a reliable ball carrier. Guess it depends on your play style.

PBBL/5.0 Snew, sorry I should have said that in the original post. Not that 5.0 Jump up is much nerfed compared to 4.0 on an AG3 player...

I'm really not sold on Sure Hands, I almost never carry the Ball with the Chaos Warriors. They skill themselves up just fine and I wouldn't risk handing off for the next two matches. I really want to win the Chaos Cup, as there's D3 Random mutations/Regeneration up for grabs for the Winner.

Break Tackle is tempting, I could then drop Tackle and MB onto him and use him to menace soft targets. Or possibly go BT, Strip (But I'm more likely to do that with the other ST5 CW)

Mighty Blow was my Gut choice as it speeds up his progress towards 76 SPPs, but Guard is also really tempting as ST5 Guard, Stand Firm, Blodge would be a nightmare to deal with. Tackle is also tempting, it'll be useless against the Nurgle team but amazing for dealing with Elves.

It's just a shame I can't see who my opponents are before I make my choice.

A STR 5 blodging sure hands player will go a long way to winng the cup (If your objective is to win first and spread out SPP second) What makes Luthor so dangerous? STR 5 and blodge. You would have the same plus be immune to stripball...

There's only one Strip Ball player still alive in the entire league. And he's packing a Niggle. Suffice to say the response to any Strip Ball player appearing on the pitch is exceedingly brutal and they've all had their careers ended for them.

As a consquence everyone except the Wood Elves has decided to avoid the skill for now. I'd honestly prefer to hang fire on Sure Hands and develop a Block, Sure Hands, Extra Arms Beastman next season instead. I'm just not doing it, I feel it would ruin my player and force him into a role that I'm not comfortable with him doing. I like my Chaos Warriors to support my BMs while they carry the ball.

Go with break tackle then, Lets him be a "hitman" that can break through the line when he needs to.

Hmm,

lots of good choices. I don't think that you need more Guarders, you already have 3 and 4 ST-increases...

Break Tackle would combine very nicely with ST5 and Dodge so I'd be tempted to go this route.

But what about Tentacles? I know it has been weakened but it's still good with ST5, keeps opponents around for blocking and may help compensating your lack of Tackle.

Cheers
