Vampires & Thralls

Post by tonksey »

Hey

Been thinking about the possiblity playing Vampires in a league - purely because no-one (or very few people) else seems to pick them in a league - and wondered about something...

As we know, Vampires have Blood Lust... a roll of 1 means the blood-sucker in question has to bite his own thrall. What happens if you run out of Thralls on the pitch??? I've not looked in the LRB5 but this potential problem jumpde out at me & I don't recall this being addressed in LRB5?

Cheers

Then the Vampire has to leave the pitch after its movement and it is a turnover. It is the same as if you don't manage to reach a Thrall, e.g. because they are too far away from your Vampire.

Thanks - that's what I thought; just wondered if there was a rule about there being no Thralls such as an immediate end to the game cos the Vamps wouldn't be able to sustain themselves. But what you've just clarified makes sense.

It begs a follow-up question; if all the Vamps end up going off cos there's no Thralls on the pitch, leaving me with no men on the pitch - the game continues for the opposition, able to score at will until the Vamps come back on? No immediate end to the match if you have no guys left (Vamps or otherwise)?

That's correct. Look at p.15 ("Restarting the match") for rules on what happens if you don't have any players to set up on the pitch.

And just a quick hand out from one Vampire player to another.

Take no more than 3 Vampires.

3 seems to be a magical number with Bloodlust roll's as with 3 Vampires I've so far not had one failed BloodLust roll(4 games already), but when i had 4(the First match i played) i ended up with a Bloodbath(27 failed roll's :o ) and a AG3 Vamp to boot (because he had to try and dodge in 4 TZ to reach last Thrall on the Pitch (the only spp i got out of that match was the MVP).

So put up no more than 3 Vamps on the pich in one time.

Yeah at least in the beginning, with the vamps you gotta start getting the pro skill so you can reroll those failed blood lust rolls (or at least attempt to).........Plus I would start with 4 RR........You could maybe get away with playing more if you have one you wouldnt activate all the time, like one on the line with guard............
