Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
Well, personally I don't think you need to start with 4 Pestigors. As their initial role in the team is to handle the ball and score TDs then you don't tend to need more than a pair. Instead, as this is a short term league you want to consider front loading with more of the slower developing players.
The line ups I'd consider are as follows.
1 Beast of Nurgle - 140K
2 Nurgle Warriors - 220K
2 Pesitgors - 160K
6 Rotters - 240K
3 Rerolls - 210K
970K total
30K banked, as this is short term you'd get a better payoff keeping the 30K and putting it towards Nurgle warrior or Pesitgor #3. Honestly the FAME isn't worth chasing as you'd need to win the roll 4 times in the first four matches for it to be better than actually having the 30K in the bank and the odds of getting a +2 FAME are slim.
The second line up is:
3 Nurgle Warriors - 330K
2 Pestigor - 160K
6 Rotters - 240K
3 Rerolls - 210K
940K Total
60K banked - Hopefully that means Nurgle Warrior #4 right after the first match or Pestigor #3 if you roll low on winnings. Also this means you've lowballed your TV enough to get a 50K card or a Bloodweiser Babe for the first match. It could be possible to have Rotter #7 and bank 20K, especially if you plan to foul.
With both these teams you get a solid front three and the ability to speed up getting a 6th 'positional' after the first match. I slightly prefer the first list as the BoN is the best piece on the Nurgle team, it's superb against agile and bashy teams alike, and works well in combination with the Nurgle Warriors to disrupt passing plays and feed targets for the Warriors to bash.
Well actually it's a long term team. Each season is only about 12-14 games but then there is a new league right after. I believe the team will start at TV 110 rather than 100, because it will be joining a league of already developed teams. We are just about to finish the last season with TV's about 155 average (I'm way above).
Fen do u have any suggestions how to balance new teams with more experienced ones so that all teams are competive or at least fun to play???
Whoops, misread the title. But I'd probably still do the same thing because I'd want to turbo charge the team and get the extra positional asap.
tbh I'm of the opinion that Inducements do a fine job of balancing the teams. Especially the Star Players and Wizard. Also some teams do a lot better when playing up TV than others, so it's variable anyway.
I think if I had to, I'd either give the teams a little more cash so they can have a deeper starting team (more rerolls or a deeper bench helps when starting off), a couple of free randomly assigned MVPs after their first match (not before) or I'd try to stagger any matches so the newer teams play each other and the lower ranked teams first. It's worth chatting to the other members of the league and asking them what they think, you might find that they're happy with it as is.
But playing TV110 vs 155 isn't too bad imo. Especially as Nurgle who have some wicked stars, most of notable which is Borak.
I'd just recommend the team takes Borak and Ripper as much as possible, the Igor for playing any bashier teams and the Wizard for the Agile ones. That combination of Inducements tends to cover most situations and it's affordable (290K + 270K (+100K/+150K))
Oh and at TV110 I'd go:
BoN, 3 Nurgle Warriors, 2 Pestigor, 5 Rotters, 3 Rerolls and still bank 60K to get that 4th Warrior or 3rd Pestigor right after the first match and also increase my inducements by 60K in the hope that slight increase allows 2 Star Players to be induced.
