Human Tactics and Playing against Norse
Everyone seems to have a team that they do well with, mine is Orc's. I also have a human team along with others but it is the humans that i can not seem to do very well with.
Out of about 15 games i have played with them i think i have won about 4. Tied 3 and lost the rest. Not all the results are bad most are 1-2 or 0-1 but there are some 0-3 and 1-3.
I am not sure what i am doing wrong. May be i am trying to play them like orcs too much or maybe i am going for too many passes.
Please can someone help.
Also i would like some advice on how to play against Norse. I find them hard to beat with most teams i use.
Again can someone help.
Cheers Olli

Tell me about your Human team. How do you start your season? How do you develop? How do you set up your defense? Do you like Ogres? Do you like Catchers? What do you do with your Catchers, defensively?

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

My team is not in a league yet, but i wanting to use them in our next league in May.
My roster will be.
4 x Blitzer
1 x Thrower
1 x Ogre
3 x Catcher
3 x Lineman
3 x Re roll
2 x Fan factor.
Defence
I keep 2 blitzers in the back field with a couple of catchers . The linemen and the ogre on the line and the other blitzers and lineman/thrower in the widezone. I am trying a few set ups but this is normalish
Develop- i am not sure as i have not played them in a season.

I used to struggle with humans, then i stopped playing them as an all round side, and concentrated on a bashy running game (not neccessarily cage and stall though). Once i got this i subsequently expanded tactics and added in more catchers so i had more options and could play a faster game. limiting my tactics helped me initially just to get to grips with the team. I started with 0-1 catchers. Playing without them made me realise how useful they could be.

There have been lots of threads recently on setting up a Human team.
Try: viewtopic.php?t=23751
I think you've got too many catchers personally (as you'll see in the thread).
As for beating Norse, I try and make them come to me.
Standing next to them in your turn is playing to their strength (unless your Dwarfs Orcs etc who can stand the beating).
Remember their AV7, pretty fragile when it comes down to it. Blitz & foul.
The Snow Troll is not really the danger guy to you that he is to others. Target their AV7 frenzy players and runners.
Having said that, the last time I played a good Norse coach (Roller at the BB) I got beat so maybe you should wait for someone else on that count...

The poster above is pretty spot on. Don't end your turn standing next to them because you just give them free hits. If you are forced in to that option vs dodging, it's almost always better to try to dodge away unless the player in question already has Block or is expendable (rookie linemen late season, etc)
The armor makes them pretty flimsy, so when you do knock them down, they tend to stay down. Fouling is pretty dangerous (especially early in the season) so I'd avoid that. However, you should be able to blitz the crap out of a viking every other turn or so, and you'll end up wearing their roster down pretty quick.
As far as human teams go, I've been having some success with mine. I started without the Ogre and waited a couple games before buying him. I find that a core of specialists like 4 Blitzers, 2 Catchers, 1 Thrower is an absolute must. The thrower gets a lot of work in both because he racks up completion points and because he's always the one in the backfield to fall back on when someone makes it past my line.
While your agility isn't terribly impressive, you are one of the teams with access to a thrower that starts with Pass and a catcher that starts with Catch. When I play, I try to keep the ball well hidden in my thrower's hands behind some linemen until I have a catcher somewhere they can make a sprint for the TD. Once the coast is clear, the thrower steps out of the pocket and launches the ball where it needs to go. The way I see it, my 5+ rerollable long pass has better odds than my ST 3 AV 8 cage holding up for four turns.
If you end up developing long enough, the other players will start scrambling to handle your soon-to-be super-catchers. This is fine, since by now you'll want to get more SPPs on your blitzers anyway...

Don't put the Ogre on the D-line. On offense, ok, but go last with him (at least last in your line-blocking scheme) and see if you can use him to set up a 3d block.
On defense, protect your Ogre a little. Doesn't need to be a lot, but if your opponent can blitz him with an assist, Norse teams have all kinds of crazy ways to screw with big guys.
Humans start out kind of so-so. It's their broad access and starting skills that let them develop so well. Norse start out something fierce, but have a hard time improving consistently, as they do take something of a beating.
Do you have an Apoth? You might need one this game.
