Double on a Pact Ogre-Block or something more interesting?

Post by Aliboon »

Hi, the above says it all really-he already has guard and BT. He's on a pretty developed team, with a guard SF troll but no mino.

One good passing Marauder and a few more with block. The renegades are pretty well developed, extra headed horny gobbo, blodge DT skaven and a AG5 leap guard delf.

So, should I give the Ogre block, or something else? Normally block on an Ogre is a no-brainer, but there are so many interesting mutations to try (tentacles springs to mind), wrestle might even be an option as I'm at about 200 TV, so a lot of the players I'll hit will already have block. What do yous think?

Block without a doubt, particularly if a lot of your opponents already have Block. Wrestle just helps your opponent because they will want him down anyway and you're helping them.

Distant second is Claw. Claw / Mighty Blow is awesome.

Block is clearly the best choice. I'd rate a lot of mutations, a couple Agility skills, Frenzy, Pro and Pass all over Wrestle... in fact, I'd never take Wrestle on a Big Guy.

Can Nerves be used to TTM? If so, i'd rate Nerves over Wrestle too... and that's like my 12th choice.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

diving tackle isn't funny, it was a serious suggestion away from the block or pro normality

it combines really well with prehensile tail for a nasty -3 to dodges

of course the whole being on the floor with wild animal is a bit of a pain, though they do have move 6 which is better than most big guys

Umm, it's a normal Ogre, not a Rat Ogre.

Went for boring block in the end-wrestle was a thought because the thought of using the BT to dodge into a cage then wrestling down the ball carrier flashed across my mind. But that wouldn't happen very often at all (other, better options to break the cage) and the good thing about block is that it keeps the ogre on his feet and adjacent to the player that just blocked him, ready for a retaliatory smack back.

I did fancy tentacles as I've suffered facing tentacled big guys, but block is probably better all told, just hope i roll another double...

Block/Tents is seriously wicked on a big guy, so much more so than prehensile tail.. It's too bad pact cant get tents without a double. I agree block is best for that ogre, but I would seriously consider giving your troll tents if he doubles, and using the 2 as a pair (1 blocks/guards, other moves/uses tents).

I understand full well that it is difficult to argue with the orthodox and ultra-sensible Block.

However, I would have thought that there is a case for giving all 3 Big Guys Tentacles on their first doubles. Knowing how good one Tentacled Big Guy is, I would hate to play against 3 of them.

Hope this helps.
