Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!
Don't understand a particular rule or just need to clarify something? This is the forum for you. With 2 of the BBRC members and the main LRB5/6 writer present at TFF, you're bound to get as good an answer as possible.
This may sound like a noob question, but here it goes.
What does it mean when someone re-sets their team when they start a new league? Do their SPP's go away? ( I don't think so ) Or is it just that the treasury goes down to 0$
I have a human team that I'm developing and I don't want to start all over again with them or play a different race. I would just like to keep using my team in another season after this one is done.
Our league uses a 'salary cap' - all teams 'reset' after a fashion, losing staff, players, re-rolls and even the treasury, but are allowed to hire back on, with a stipend equal to the salary cap established at the beginning of the season, veteran players at their updated values. Of course, some players are cut from the team and the money usually goes to fill out the squad with more rookie players, re-rolls or whatever. New teams joining the league are given money equal to the salary cap instead of the normal 1m.
It's not exactly rulebook-kosher and I'm sure lots of people dislike the idea, but we've been fiddling with it for a little bit now and it seems to keep things sporting, which was the intention. Pitch the idea to your commissioner if you like - I'm sure it would be preferable to losing your favourite players. Just make sure to credit me should the idea catch on, heh.
we play our league without resetting. but then again, we are all real life friends and are not that competitive. we also use bounties and of course the big teams are on the list with some players...
Damn. I was hoping nobody would say that we had to start over. The salary cap thing sounds interesting though. I might have to bring that up. I like my team even though they're 3-2-3 ( W-L-T ) after 8 games. I would like to see how far I can go with them.

The other coaches and I are also friends and have been for a loooong time. I think I can persuade them to see it my way!
at the end of it all, choose what ever you and your friends are happy with. in my league, this year we carried teams over, next year we are all starting fresh teams, but this is because we all decided we wanted to start new teams
and to keep a bit of consistantcy from the old teams we have taken all the best players from this current set of teams and added them to our star player lists.
we also have a k.o.-dungeon-bowl-tournament and a group-then-k.o.-tournament. so basically, some make new teams for the league and keep their experienced teams for the bowls or the other way round. everyone has 1-3 teams and has to nominate one for each competion.

We normally start with new teams (mainly as we use different rules sets each season), but we did decide that if someone wanted to carry over a team from the previous season, they could.
Basically, just do what your league finds fun. The only people that can decide you're playing wrong is you.

Thanks everyone for your input! My buddies and I are going to sit down and decide one of these days. I may just decide to set aside my humans for a season and rev up my Dark Elves!
