Multi-part plastic river trolls

Post by mrbrownesquire »

GW is releasing plastic multi-part river trolls. I am sure some clever converters could make some great BB trolls from them!

I still prefer the old ones for conversion.

I do not like the fact that Granny is going away from the cartoony side of the trolls and gobo. Silly and cartoony are perfect for BB.

They're very clearly based on the old metal ones.

I forsee some conversion issues with these, depening on the exact nature of the parts (seperate hands etc) and how many of each you get.

Would hope the puke was optional...and really, unless you're going to use all three then you're better off buying the Neomics Troll or one of Impact's trolls.

Not a fan; too stylised, with too many sharp edges...

There are pictures of the sprues on the GW site as well. If I knew how to get them up here I'd do it. They do look promising though.

I'm reluctantly forced to concede that I like them too.. not enough to splash $45 on 3 minis, but I do like the direction they have taken with these..

Yes, but will that be enough to get you to BUY them?

*casts minor threadomancy*

I was just wondering if anyone had converted these guys yet (I'm looking at you Pug), because I'm considering them for my own goblin team.

Would love to see some pictures for inspiration.

Well....currently I have one of them put together ready for Gobbo team.

First thing is they are pre-set poses. the only changable options are heads and weapons. limb placement via conversion will take alot of plastic hacking and muscle resculpt and/or team shirt sculpted over coverted limb joints and joins.
They are very "fishy" in theme, but that's ok with me as the team of Gobbos are based around a Swamp theme anyway...well they will be once I get any time to do anything.

Yes you can get them to stand on a 30mm base, or if careful a 28mm base.

My troll still needs green stuff applying to create cloth/material shirt/tunic for team kit, and a bit of work on working out a bit of armour plating here and there.

Thanks for the information Pug - that was really helpful to know. I must admit tha I'm considerably less interested in the trolls now that I know they're single pose beasties. Shame on GW!

Dude! I have to say, these Trolls look awesome; love the heads/faces, just the right mixture of comical and menacing for me.
Still, I will never, ever buy them or use them because they're made of plastic. No plastic minis for me, nosiree.
