Tentacles?

Post by Smurf »

Can the skill be used to tie up as many players as possible leaving the player's tackle zone.

Prevent 1-8 players leaving.

Prevent 1 player leaving but that one player only counts if they have been caught. Therefore players that have got away do not count.

Yes, Tentacles can be used any number of times during your opponent's turn, like Tackle. It is not a "one use" skill.

The Beast of Nurgle can routinely tie up multiple players (say 2 or 3). If he gets lucky (say +ST, Block, S-Firm) he can realistically tie up 4 players, sometimes for multiple turns. But sometimes he will get knocked down on the first block against him.

Tactically speaking, Tentacles can be countered by marking the Tentacled player (with a Lineman, for example). Thus the Tentacled player is only tying up one player.

Hope that answers your question.

So if he prevents one model moving, he can also prevent others moving in the same turn?

Am I right in thinking that if you are lucky enough to have two guys with tentacles, should the opportunity arise only one can use the ability on a player? This seems somewhat limiting to me. I'd love to park my Beast of Nurgle and two tentacle Warriors across the midfield and completely block it off.

If you had more than one guy with Tentacles, it'd probably be more effective to spread them out a little in such a way that a dodger attempting to leave one Tentacle-player's zone would wind up in another.

I can't see any reason why you would not need to roll for each tentacles player.

It is such that if you dodge out of 2 guys with Tentacles you only get to use one. but if he dodges a second time and is in a players zone with tentacles you get to do the roll with that guy

So you're disagreeing with one of the guys that wrote the rules - care to give us the reasoning for your different interpretation?
(Not saying that I agree or disagree with your conclusion, just that you've not made your case clear.)

I can't see any reason why you would not need to roll for each tentacles player.

But the rules of Tentacles states that this is the case. If you try to dodge from 2+ players with tentacles, you only roll for one of them.

Unless we are talking about dodging from one tentacle to another and then dodge again....Then you roll each time.

But you never roll for tentacles more than once per dodge.

From CRP:
If a player attempts to leave the tackle zone of several players with tentacles, only one may attempt to grab him with tentacles.
