Were there 2nd Ed. Hobgoblins?

Post by lawquoter »

Maybe Galak can answer (I checked the old 2nd Edition Miniature list he had once upon a time :D ). I'm getting ready to do a CD team with 2nd Edition miniatures. Got the CDs, not sure if there are 2nd Edition Hobgobs to go hunting for.

I'm using 2ed Chaos Dwarves, and am using 1ed Orcs for Hobgobs. They have that old skool feel about them, and being kinda skinny look more Hobgobliny than Orky (imho).

I keep hoping that one of the many independent sculpters would make some alternative hob goblin figures for bloodbowl.

a bunch of them already have Del, the issue is they look like gremlins, or goblins, or lumps of turd.. hobgoblins are a different breed and no-one has managed to do alternate versions yet to my liking...

Joe, best bet, pick up some late 80s hobgob minis and do weapon snips... early citadel hobgobs were kinda cool, with a slightly Asian feel to them... combined with 2nd ed CDs they might look rather cool as a Nippon themed team..

I used 1st ed orcs as hobgoblins and thought they came out fine. Later, I found out I copied Horekim's idea.

1st Edition Ramz? I also agree with alternative Hobbos...I just don't like 'em. I do admit to liking the 3d ED GW one with the single bar facemask though.

Suggestions for the BCs?

BC's you can convert 3rd ED Warhammer Elven Beastmaster boars by grafting on the torsos of 2nd Ed Chaos Dwarves (as per Horekim). I use 2nd ed Orc Catchers for Hobbos for three reasons, 1. I have them lying around and 2. They have about the right amount of armour and 3. They look cool. I also use the 2nd Ed Orc kicker who looks like he's punting a guy in the 'nads as a dirty player.

I don't use BCs Joe, I'd rather have 3 hobgobs and a FF for that money... a lot of people think I'm nuts, but my tourney results with a no BC roster have been pretty good..

in a league I can see the value, especially once they skill up.. but as I don't play in a league...

I was thinking about using 2nd Ed Orc Catchers. I like the conversion idea...food for thought thanks!

If you'd just move to KC we could run a 2 man league. 8)

Interesting...I can absolutely see the value of the no BC on a tourney roster. Wonder how that would work in a long term league?

I am trying to get all my teams maxed out on positionals so I have all options...to probably just sit in my cabinent as I typically just play by myself. Insert joke _______________.
